Sketch and Stash 17

Its another Sketch and Stash and Becky has created yet another fabulous sketch.
Here's my take on it ... and for once I have left it as it is!!

I watercoloured my image (kindly given to me by Vicky) and distressed the edges in shabby shutters and peeled paint. I have had these papers for ages, but haven't cut into them until now asa they are just so strokeable. I matted them onto cerise cardstock and added a cerise ribbon. I punched flowers and swirls and added some gems. Finally I stamped the sentiment straight onto the dp.

The other DT careations are stunning so do take a peek at them.

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge #45

This week's challenge has been set by Claire and its Fancy Corners. I don't have corner punches or dies so I have gone for stamped corners.

Here's another stamp I haven't inked up for ages - so she's been inked up and watercoloured. I distressed the background using peeled paint, tattered rose and aged mahagony and used my nesties to cut it and the matt out. I have kept the layout simple and embellishment free as flowers looked too fussy.
For the corners I stamped the corners in peeled paint and then brushed gold perfect pearls over it. I spritzed them and then dried them so they have a gold shimmer.
Do take a look at the other DT members cards.
While you are reading this I am in Penrith at a craft retreat for the weekend! hopefully I'll get some cards made ... but might shop and chat more LOL!!

I am offering someone the chance to get their hands on some surprise crafting goodies - check out my this post for details.

ABC challenge is for ...

YELLOW
Not my favourite colour so I have added quite a bit of black!!

I watercoloured my image and then used my nesties to cut her and the black matt out. I added a panel of dp matted onto black and some yellow ribbon. I punched flowers out of the black and yellow dp and coloured the centres in. Finally I stamped the Pollycraft sentiment.

I have followed the Spoonfull of Sugar sketch so am entering this into the challenge.

Secret Crafter Saurday Challenge #42

Its Donna's turn to set the challenge and its a recipe this week - 2 design papers, 3 buttons and 1 ribbon.

I coloured my image and distressed it in antique linen, tattered rose and shabby shutters before masking the image and spritzing with glimmer mist. I matted the dp onto olive green cardstock and punched some flowers. I added the buttons to the centres of the flower. I made a paper bead and threaded it through my ribbon.

Do take a peek at the other DT cards.

We're away this weekend - camping (?!) at Bodnant garedens so hopefully it will be nice enough to get to the beach ... but no crafting for me :(

Simon Says ....

I have finally got round to joining in a Simon Say Stamp challenge, and its a colour challenge, lemon, orange, apple green and pink. I used the Sketch Saturday sketch for the layout, and rotated by 180 degrees.
I watercolured the image and distressed it using spiced marmalade and mustard seed. I used my Glimmer mist screen and spiced marmlade ink to creat the botton right corner detail. All the dp is distressed. I added prima flowers, brads, ribbon and acharm to finish the sketch.
I've just noticed there's something green at the top left corner of the card that shouldn't be there!

Take one pad of paper

... and interpret it in two totally different ways.
I have done very little crafting for a couple of days as I have been suffering from hayfever and have been in the garden tidying and planting. The girls are growing vegetables so we have planted carrots, cucumbers, peas and beans. However Beth is going through the 2 year old "I am scared of the dark, my bed, and generally sleep" phase so I have been playing with my pro-markers whilst persauding her that sleeping in her own bed is a good idea!!.
The Stamp with Fun challenge this week is a great sketch, and I have combine it with this week's Creative Inspirations challenge which is a recipe - 3 flowers, 2 buttons and ribon/fibre/lace.
I coloured the image in using promarkers and matted it onto pink cardstock. All the papers come from the same K and Co pack andI use olive green cardstock. I punched and inked flowers and added gems to their centres. The swirls are also punched. Finally I added the ickle buttons.

The second challenge is the Papertake weekly Challenge. Dawny has done a fantastic sketch again and here is my interpretation of it.
I coloured Tilda and cut her out - I have not matted her onto a dp, just placed her onto the next layer back on the sketch. I have kept it verysimple - no embellishments, as the pweosn it is intented for will hate all the ribbon, flowers etc of the card above. I stamped the sentiment straight onto the dp.I just hope it is acceptable as the sketch.

Simple card

I get asked to make cards by a few of the parents at Ellie's pre-school - today's challenge, make a card for a 9 year old girl in Manchester City sky blue colours ... oh and include a cute image and pretty papers, but not be too fussy! No problem I muttered!!
I'm not sure what the card is for so I have left it greeting-less, but have used the Papertake Weekly sketch (rotated) and a different card shape (Spoonfull of Sugar).

I cut my card and dp using my Mega rectangles from Nestibilities - I hardly ever use them as they are generally too big - never thought to use them to cut card blanks -DOH! I made sure that I would still have some fold in the card when I placed the die in the folded card. I then had to find an image cute enough and small enough to fit in the middle!! I coloured this gorgeous Sarah Kay image in and then chopped the bottom off! I used turquoise cardstock that match ed the centre of the darker flowers to matt the image onto. I ran some acetate through my d'vine swirls folder and scruffed the back up so it showed on the cardstock. Two flower brads attach the cardstock and acetate. Finally I distressed the edges of the image, card blank and dp as it looked too stark. Hopefully they will like it.

It is a simple take on the Papertake sketch and hopefully I'll have another go at it later in the week ... but I pulled my lower back quite badly while tidying up my craft room on Sunday and crafting is a little painful at the moment. That'll teach me to be tidy!!

Dutchdare Challenge #35

Buttons and Bows

I have kept this rather simple as I haven't had a lot of time, and I seem to be using less embellishments on my cards at the moment. I ran the unpatterned paper through my swiss dots embossing folder. Typically the charm didn't behave and is hiding behind the flowers LOL! I added 4 gems to the top right in decreasing sizes.

Sarah Kay Bows

I don't normally get to do the Magnolia Vs Stampavie challenge as Sundays are the family day and then I often forget to do it later in the week. But hubby has been away and Ellie wanted to craft so while she was busy I had a go at this week's challenge which is bows.
This was my 1st go ...

I coloured Spring Blossoms in distress inks and cut her out. I adapted an Ismaki sketch for the card and used Making Memories papers. The lace, ribbon and flowers are all from my stash. I am not sure I like it - its a bit washed out for me ... but thats because I am trying to use up my papers ... and some that are left are the ones I am not as keen on!!
So I had another go ...

I used the same image coloured in distress inks and matted onto Basic Grey Sugared papers. I love the effect that Kim gets by distressing her backgrounds and after a little help from her I am having a go at it myself. The background is distressed in tattered rose and tea dye. The scroll corners are stamped in Versafine sepia and the tag and scroll are sizzix dies.

While I was busy Ellie was making her own cards ... helped by Miffy!

Not sure who is concentrating the most!!

Miffy giving a helping (?) paw!!
And finally (if you are still with me!) a card I made last night, as I had the evening to myself.

Not sure whose the papers are - bought them as single sheets, but the flowers are Prima and the scroll cut from my sizzix die. I followed this week's Friday Sketchers layout as it is such a fab sketch. Tilda is coloured in distress inks and the background distressed in milled lavender.

Wow - you've got to the end!!

LOTV sketch

This week's LOTV challenge is a fab sketch by Donalda. I have altered it slightly, as I have used an oval rather than a circle for the image.

I coloured my latest Sarah Kay in in Pro markers and used a white gel pen to add some highlights. The Papers are by making Memories and I have inked all the edges in a dusky pink pad. I added pink swirls to the corners, a prima flower and pink organza. The sentiment is by Penny Black.
I am really pleased by the overall effect for a change - I normally start picking my cards to pieces the minute they are finished!

This is a 'just because' card that I made the other night.

I coloured Tilda in using Distress inks and faux stitched her and the K and Co papers. The heart and patch on her dress are decoupaged. I added prima flowers and ribbon from my stash.

I am still on the use up my stash drive. I have decided stamps aren't included in this resolution as you can't use them up ... so I have bought a few from the Glitterpot sale ... just don't tell the Hubby!

Friday Sketcher

I can't believe it is already Friday, where has the week gone? While the girls were tidying their bedroom (and making a bigger mess LOL!) I had a go at this week's Friday Sketcher using an image I had already coloured.

This gorgeous Sarah Kay is coloured in distress inks and cut out using my new nesties. I inked the edges of all the papers and image, was tempted to stitch but resisted! I used K and Co papers, ribbon, eyelets, flowers and gems from my stash. The sentiment is by Penny Black. There has been a little resizing of some of the elements in the sketch to make things fit better.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Charisma Cardz Challenge #1

There is a new challenge blog (and I can't resist challenges!) called Charisma Cardz Challenges. There 1st challenge is a pink card (feel my heart sinking!!). However I have made a friendship card for one of my closest friends and she does I fear like pink!

I used this lovely Sarah Kay image, Rosies garden and all the papers are Making Memories, as is the ink for distressing. I watercoloured the image and the flower using distress inks. The image is cut out using my nesties. The charm and pearl brad were part of a PIF I received, and the ribbon is from my stash.

I think I need to lie down now to recover from the pinkness of it all!!

Friday Sketcher

Well I'm back!! I hope you all had a fab Christmas and got the things you wanted.

I had a lovely few days at my parents for Christmas. The girls had a great time opening all their presents and playing with their new toys and games, so I got some peace and quiet! Ellie is well and trully recovered from her operation and is positively glowing (shame he couldn't have removed her voice box as well as the tonsils!!), but Beth has been quite poorly over Christmas with a nose like a tap and infected ears. However she has needed her Grandad not me ... so I was OK! The cat survived staying with my parents dog - not sure which is going to need therapy!
My lovely hubby bought me lots of Promarkers and my Mum got me a stack of Dsitress inks so I have spent a few days curled up in front of a fire trying out my new toys! Still need a bit of practice, but the three cards I have posted today were coloured using either distress inks or promarkers.

I have made a little promise to myself (having hit the Glitterpot sale big time!) that I am not going to get any more stash until I have used most of what I have - I seem to have flowers, papers and ribbons pouring out of my craft room, and yet I feel the need to buy more ... so I am going to resist. I am not, however, opening a book on how long I will last!

Anyway, this is the card I made using the Friday Sketcher sketch (a bit late but it is Christmas!!).

I used my new Promarkers to colour her in and Basic Grey Sugared papers. I used my large sizzix tag die to cut the tags. I went a bit mad with the faux stitching and stitched everything! The organza ribbon is from my stash, as are the brads.

Off to play with the girls and their train set (they are very keen on Brio!). Have a lovely evening and if I don't get on the 'pooter tomorrow

Happy New Year.

Sketch Saturday

The Sketch Saturday challenge is any previous sketch, so I chose sketch 17 and altered it slightly!!! Rather than a circle I cut my image as an oval as it looks better as an oval.

I used this gorgeous Sarah Kay which I haven't inked up for a while. I used my new distress inks to colour her. The dp are Basic Grey Eva, and the lace is from my stash. I used my oval and circle nesties to cut the shapes. I added 6 green gems to finish it off.

Hope you like it.

Blue Sarah Kay

The Sarah kay challenge is Blue. I really like working with blue so I thought I would have a go.
I have been a bit restricted on papers as we are dog sitting for my Mum and Dad. I embossed so cardstock and used one of Anita's Christmas papers that reminded me of Victoriana wallpaper. The image is watercoloured in blue pencil crayons. I added lace, prima flowers and some blue wire to complete it.

Sarah Kay challenge

The Sarah Kay Challenge this week is ...
Trio of Papers

This week we would love to see what you can come up with the use of your Sarah Kay Stamps, and 3 Patterned/Designer Papers.

I have kept the layout of this card simple and not really embellished it as I have picked some quite 'busy' papers. I have used aqua promarkers to colour the image, and K and Co papers. The lace and wire is from my stash.

Pretty in Pink

This week's Cute Card Thursday Challenge is
Pretty in Pink.
I have used elements of a recent Friday Sketcher on this card, as I love the effect of the wrap over ribbons at the top. I have watercoloured My Sweet Lili and used my nestibilites to create a frame. The papers are by making memories and the lace and ribbon from my stash.
The Best Friends sentiment is from a K and Co paper.

No card challenge

The spoonfull of sugar challenge this week is to make something that is not a card. I found the template for this lovely little bag here. It was really simple to make and is great for those little bits and pieces we girlies give a gifts!
I have used green cardstock from the Papermill shop and a Sarah Kay image watercoloured in greens and lilacs. The papers are purple cardstock and DCWV matt stack. I added some papermania brads and Prima flowers and some ribbon from my stash.
Now all I have to do is get some chocs and I'm away!!

PS I am really chuffed as I won last week's ribbon challenge so I'm going to be getting some stickles to play with!!

Sarah Kay and papertake weekly challenges

As the Papertake Weekly Challenge this week is a fab sketch by Katharina, I have combined it with The Sarah Kay challenge to use purple and green, a colour combo I love.
I have coloured and cut out the image and matted her onto DCWV cardstock. The papers are DCWV and Making Memories. I have added ribbons and flowers from my stash, and some wire.

Papertake sketch challenge

This is lovely Sarah Kay is a stamped image from Vicky. It instantly brought to mind Laura Ingolls Little House on the Priaire. I have used K and Ko papers and watercoloured the image in greens and reds. The lace ribbon is form my stash.

It is a lovely image, just a bit fiddly to colour! Still thinking of the opening credits where they run down the hill ... come on admit it you remember it too!!!
