Visible Image DT post

 Today I am showing you a vintage card I made using stamps from Visible Image Stamps.

 I have made an acordian card ...

I die cut the sections to make the accordian card and then stamped round the outer edges using the grunge flourish stamp and Victorian velvet distress ink.  I cut the mats using Prima papers. 

  I stamped the Large Butterfly, butterfly and rose onto kraft cardstock,and cut them out. I simply added lace or seam binding to the mats, and a cut out image.  I used pearls to decorate the sections.

For the last page I stamped the More than words sentiment in verdafine sepai and simply added a bow and some pearls.

Plastic milk bottle Visible Image butterflies ... and my desk!

I like a bit of a play, and since my alcohol inks were out I thought I would have a go at using them on a couple of plastic milk bottles we have - plastic milk bottles are a bit of a novelty in our house as we get millk in glass bottles from the milk man!!! But we needed extra at the weekend.  Before I get onto how i made the butterflies I better tell you about the card!!  I stamped the Visible image Large butterfly and butterfly onto the milk bottle usding versafine ink and cut them out when they were dry.  I used distress inks to colour my cardstock, and then stamped the Visible Image tall grass over the bottom section, ghosting some of it to create depth.  I added the butterflies.

And here is how I did those butterflies -
First clean your bottle out thoroughly (kind of obvious really!!)

Then cut out the section you want ...

 (I know its not the same bottle - I was so excited I forgot to take the first picture!!!)

Then go over the plastic with alcohol inks and a blending tool until you get the effect you want (again too carried away to take a photo!!)

Then stamp your image, or die cut the shape you want onto the plasdtic.  I used the large butterfly from Visible image.

 I cute them out - make sure your ink is really dry or it will smudge a little when you touch it.

Distressed Magnolia

I love a bit of distressing, and on the Just Magnolia blog they have a distressing challenge. This has been a labour of love for me, and lots of playing with new techniques. I made my own background and have added very little dp to this - all distressed.

This is how I did it .
I used Antique Lineen and distress some cream, lightly hammered cardstock.

Then I put mt Glimmer Mist screen in the corner...
and went over the cardstock and screen with Tattered Rose ink.

So it now looks like this ...

Then I sprayed Old Lace glimmer mist over the cardstock and screen and let it dry.

I added my design paper and then using a larger screen inked part of it up, and made the decorate bottom right corner.

Here's a close up. As the screen is plastic the distress ink does have a tendency to dapple, but I think that makes it look distressed and cracked.
Then I added lace, my image and flowers.

The biggest challenge for me has been letting each step dry before doing the next.

I don't think my glimmer mists are liking the heat - they are quite splodgy at the mo. Any suggestions gratefully recieved.

My Gorjuss Friend

I got my Gorjuss stamps today ... and they are gorjuss!! I have inked them all up and am now working through them! I have made a friendship card for a good blogging friend ... not saying who so she gets a surprise when it drops on her mat!

I masked off the cat on the image, Purrfect friend, and watercoloured her, using just 3 colours. I decided not to matt her, and just distressed the edges. I kept the background and colour scheme simple, using just 1 dp and some cardstock. I love the ribbon - it is scroll stamped onto nylony stuff - really effective to use!

The verse is one I have had stored on my computer for ages ... I have put the 1st verse on the front and finished it inside. I distressed the edges to match the image.

A closer look at Gorjuss girl!

I hardly ever do the inside of cards ... but for this special friend I have made an exception. I used the same layout as the outside, and distressed both the verse and the space to write my message.

Well I have to fedd the children now (thery are currently screaming and shouting outside!) But I feel an early night coming on for them and lots of playing for me ... just going to take some stronger painkillers so my back copes!

ABC challenge ... B is for

This week's ABC Challenge is a colour theme ...

B is for blue and brown

I love this Sugar Nellie - she always looks so thoughtful. I have tried to go for a vintage look on this so the blue is very muted and I have used lots of vintage style browns. I distressed the image and papers in tea dye and vintage photo distress inks and then added a darker brown to the very edges. I stamped scrolls using a set from TAC and the sentiment is PB - all stamped in Broken China. The flowers and ribbon are from my stash.

Sugar Bowl challenge #4

For the Sugar Bowl's 4th challenge you can only use 1 patterned paper. I couldn't decide on a floral paper so decided to do a boy's card instead.

I watercoloured the image and distressed it. I went to town with the distressing, and ripped and sanded everything!! I embossed the background cardstock using my Swiss dots folder and sanded it. The image and red card stock are cut out using my nesties, and the cardstock sanded. I delibrately matted everything at an angle to add to the grungey feel. I set eyelets to hold the image and star. Just need to find a grungey teenager now!!

ABC Challenge - A is for ...

Wow I can't believe we are back round to A, so we are celebrating ...

A is for Anniversary

I have made a teardrop card, which opens like a concertina. The image is Penny Black and has been coloured in distress inks and cut out (carefully round the tail LOL!!) and matted onto paper that has been embossed using my Swiss Dots folder. I ran a large peice of green through my Divine Swirls folder and Swiss Dots folder and them embossed 2 lines using my score board. I added ribbon that ties the card together, cut some swirls and added a couple of these gorgeous Prima Hydrangea flowers.

Sugar Bowl Love Tag

I have taken my time over this challenge and created it over a few days, adding bits and pieces. I used the theme Love and Romance and Tiets Tag Card tutorial to make this ... might give it to hubby ... if he is good!!

This is the front of the tag card. I hate trimming Sugar Nellies, but I had to in order for her to fit :(! I watercoloured her and used my nesties to do the wicked deed of trimming! As her flowers were cut off I have matted them onto the sentiment, which I wrote myself.

I cut the tag part out using a chipboard anchor as a pattern, and inked up all the edges of hte papers in order to hide the 'white' bits! I added an eyelet, ribbon and charm to add a bit of wieght to hold it down.

The inside looks like this - the frame is cut with my nesties and the sentiment finished ... suppose I better send it to hubby!LOL

This is the full inside ... Ellie helped do the embossed heart ... which is why it is RED instead of a raspberry pink!

What I did learn from the experience of making the card is not to use white cardstock and cover it ... the tag easily looks too messy.

Rope Swing Friday Sketcher

I can't believe it is already Friday and another weekend is upon us! I got a little time this afternoon to have a go at this week's fab Friday Sketcher. I have to confess I went a bit made with the distressing!!
I used distress inks to distress the papers and the cardstock is distressed with dark brown Papermania ink. I stamped the blue scrolls on and added an adhesive gem to each.

Another Christmas card

One of my very few New Year's resolutions was to make at least 1, preferrably 2 Christmas cards a week so I didn't have the mad panic in November. So far so good, three weeks in and 3 cards made.
I have not joined in the Just Christmas and Birthday Cards challenge before, but have decided I am going to, only just make Christmas cards with the sketches, so hopefully I'll get 2 a week done.

I do love my Sugar Nellie stamps and couldn't resist getting Snowflake out again. I distressed her (there's a suprise) in Fired Brick and Peeled Paint. I added the flowers as I felt that corner was a bit bare with the pale background.

Just thought I would share a couple of pics with you of the delinquent cat AKA Miffy. She is a little obsessed with the bath, particularly if one of us is in it!!! So here she is last night watching the girls playing - she's braver than me as if I sit that close I am usually sopping wet very quickly!!
Hopefully she will calm down now as she is allowed out - so we did the ritual lputting on of the collar, Frontlining her and letting her out ... only to watch her go straight to the top of our holly tree!! She did make her way down eventually, having harrassed the local bird population who seemed surprised to have to share their tree with a cat!! When Miffy came in Ellie gave her a lecture on the dangers of climbing up trees ... Miffy paid lots of attention ... NOT!!

Wallet card

I started making this wallet card 3 weeks ago as my DT contribution for this week's ABC challenge, however it has just not come together as I wanted, so I made another wallet card for the challenge.

However this week's Sugar Bowl challenge has really inspired and I finally finished it today. The challenge is Threes - 3 design papers, 3 types of embellishments etc.

This is the front of the wallet card - I adore this stamp so much. I have coloured the image in distress inks and distressed the edges in Papermania ink. I used pink and green flecked with gold cardstock, and K and CO papers. I faux stitched the papers and cardstock in gold gel pen and inked the edges. I added corners that I cut myself, and made the paper beads, following Marlene's tutorial on Sugar Sugar. The sentiment is PB stamped in Versafine Sepia. The ribbon and gems are from my stash.

And finally ... this shows the envelope I made to hold gift vouchers or money.

I am really pleased with it and as it is going to be my Gran's 92nd birthday card, I just hope she will be!
