Fishing Edwin

I blinked and realised it was the end of the week and I have hardly done any crafting this week. we are off for a weekend away so I have done a quick card this afternoon while the girls are catching up on some zzzzs.
I have combined the Tilda and Co challenge (to use bugs) and the Friday Sketcher challenge.

I cut Edwin out and replaced his fishing wire with silver wire. The papers are all K and Co Hopscotch, and I have used dragonflies, brads and ribbon from my stash.

Right off to finish packing the car and get some tea in the girls.

See you all after the weekend.

ABC challenge - D is for ...

This weeks ABC challenge is
DECOUPAGE.

I have to admit to not being very keen on decoupage - I haven't really got the patience to cut out lots of fiddly bits!! It might also have something to do with small fingers wandering off with the cut bits before they are assembled!!LOL.
So this was a challenge for me.

I have used a fab Penny Black stamp, Lovely Bubbly and layered up, using foam pads, the mouse, bottle and labels. The papers are K & Co and from my stash, and the lace is from my stash. I dunked the lace in the teapot so it got a bit of an antique look to it. I finished it off with a smattering of Prima flowers and a peel off.

Take a look at the Design teams creations and the gorgeous card from our guest designer Alison, and then have a go yourself.

Reflective Sugar Nellie

I love this Sugar Nellie, she is so calm and placid, unlike the Gremlins I live with!!! I have decided to have another go at katharina's sketch (see a couple of posts below) with her. I have used a selection of K& Co and Making Memories papers, which I have inked on the edges. The lace and braid are from my stash. I left the lace in a pot of tea for a couple of minutes to get a more antique effect on it. I added a prima flower, which looks really bright having been scanned, but it is the same colour as the dark part of the roses. Sadly I have cut of the edge of the card - oops!!
I don't normally use up my antiquey, floral papers, but I quite like hte result of this one. Ellie will be sad - less crafting stuff for her!!

Thanks for looking,

Sugar Nellie meets Papertake Weekly sketch

Katherina has created a lovely sketch for this week's Papertake Challenge.
This is my take on it. I have used my newest Sugar Nellie and watercoloured her in greens and browns. The papers are K and Co and DCWV , the ribbons are from Making Memories and the flowers Primas.
I don't like adding sentiments to my cards until I use them so instead of a sentiment I have added some ribbon detail.
As you may have gathered I am back into the faux stitching so each card is taking at least twice as long to make!!
I really like this card - hope you do too.

One of Katharina's sketches and Sugar Nellie

On her blog Katharina says:
I want to give you all the chance to be a part of Whiff of Joy. That's why I will take a Guest Designer every 2 months to join the team. And today I will start the first official Whiff of Joy Guest Designer call :) So here is what you have to do as a Guest Designer of Whiff of Joy:
Create a card or project or scrapbook page with every stamp I'll send you
post these on your blog and upload it to the Whiff of Joy gallery (it will be accessible together with the online shop)
If you are a quite active blogger and love to participate in challenges this might be another plus :)

So all you have to do is follow her sketch and link it back to her blog.
I watercoloured Sugar Nellie's Sweet N Sassy and matted her onto pink cardstock. The papers are from Making Memories, and I have inked the edges with rose pink ink. The flower is also Making Memories. I have used lace from my stash.

Cute Card Thursday

For the CCT challenge this week you are not allowed to use people. I have chosen this gorgeous PB stamp, as it is hubby's birthday soon, and he will have, well alot of candles!! I have used a mixtures of K & Co Hopscotch papers - been a bit brave mixing these, but I think it works. I am not telling you what the verse inside says, only to hint at the fact that standing back, and having a fire extinguisher in then ear vicinty might be of use!!

Altered CD

Emma has a few altered CDs on her blog, so for the Sarah Kay challenge this week I thought I would have a go at altering a CD. You are not allowed to use squares (my fave card shape) so circles and ovals called.

have used DCWV Old world Mat Stack papers for this one, and added a cream ribon and proma flowers. The faux stitching is getting a bit habitual at the mo - but I love it!!

Penny Black Snow challenge

This is my snowy card for this week's challenge.
I have used the remnants of Christmas paper from last year and some gold to add a Christmasy feel..
The Snowy and snow have been glitter glued to death (Thanks Ellie!!).

Friday sketcher

I have finally got round to this sketch.

I have used Elizabeth Bell's Sweet Ebony Flowers and mated her onto K&Co papers. I have inked the edges of the stamped image rather tha matting her. It is very simple this week.

Its been a busy week

Its been a really busy week this week, Ellie has had her Pre-school coffee morning (I sold 24 cards there yippee!!!) and we have started doing the back garden ... so haven't really done any crafting or any blogging. I am going to make a concerted effort to get round everyone's blogs over the next few days.
It has taken a few days to make this card which is for the Papertake Weekly and the Spoonfull of Sugar challenges. The Papertake weekly challenge was to make a card for a teenager, and the Spoonfull of Sugar challenge was to make a girly card. This fits the bill for both as it is girly and I think this Sugar Nellie Sweet n Sassy image has the attitude of a teenager!!
I have used DCWV Pocketful of Posies papers and cardstock, and a ribbon off a choc box. I used a little faux stitching, but have decided against flowers and other additional embellishments as it looked too fussy - not very teenager-ish!

ABC challenge C is for ...

This week's ABC challenge is to use charms in your creation. I have made an anniversary card for my brother and sister-in-law.
I decided not to use a stamped image for a change, but to use another form of embellishment. So I have used text from a Making Memories Defined set as the focal point, which I have matted onto cream hammered card. The charm is the metal heart which I have threaded ribbon through. The papers are a selection of Papermania papers, some prima flowers, and ribbons and pearls from my stash.

Birthday card

The challenge at My time to Craft is to use numbers on your project, and Cute Card Thursday's challenge is to make a card for a child. I have made this for Beth for her birthday. I love this Maggie - she has the same not so innocent cheeky look as my two horrors.
I got a bit carried away with the doodling, and kept sneezing so its a bit wonky!! Might have another go when the cold has gone.
The number is embossed and then lightly inked, as is the image with rose pink ink.

Sarah Kay Sketch

The Sarah Kay challenge is a sketch this week.
Its a fab sketch and I really enjoyed using it. I have used some Making Memories papers that I have been saving for scrapbooking, but have never used. The white paper is lace patterned. I have inked the edge of the image in pink, rather than matting the image twice. I love this lace ribbon and thought it would work well with these papers. The colour scheme is a bit pale for me as I prefer bold, strong colours, but I really like the overall effect.

Grungy Tilda

The Tilda and Co challenge this week is:
Distressed Tilda
Make her Distressed looking, a little rough around the edges, a bit of grungy!
So stay clear of these cute pastel colours if you can help it and get down and dirty with tilda!
I have had great fun with this and was in a bit of a mess myself by the end!! I have made it for a friend's daughter who is a bit grungy herself. Smeg, as we sometimes call her, is more into red that purple, but I didn't have the right papers for that!
I have distressed the edges of the card, the image and the purple corrugated paper. I have inked the edges of the image and papers. I love the effect of the purple floral paper when its inked. As Ellie was on hand to help, she inked up and scrunched the lilac paper, oh and dropped the flower into the black ink, so the flower is inked too! I added black thin ribbon and brads as Smeg likes studded bracelets etc.
The only let down was the colouring - I really struggle using black in such 'big' blocks. I did colour Tilda's hair in purple and black streaks - fortunately not something Smeg has done ... YET!!

Penny Black Saturday Challenge

I haven't done any crafting or blogging for the last few days due to feeling rotten with a bad cold and living in a palgue ridden house as both girls and hubby have it too! The challenge over at Penny Balck Saturday Challenge was a sketch and I love doing sketches.
However, I have found it really hard to do this sketch and this was my third attempt! I have struggled getting colours to co-ordinate and the sizings of the elements to look right. Its not fantastic but its the best I can do at the mo, so please be kind!!

The girls have been having a play with my craft stash - weak willpower on my part!!
This is Beth's (age 22 months) card. I have a feeling she thinks Tilda ought to be a Goth!!

These are the 2 cards Ellie (aged 3 1/2) has made to say thank you to the staff at her pre-school. She has cut everything except round the images and got on with it herself.
I think I have some serious competition, and they are less analytical in their style - glue stick, dopple of glue stick it down, job done!!! Perhaps I should start using their philosophy!

Hamish and his tractor

The Spoonfull of Sugar challenge this week is One for the Boys.

I find making cards for boys and men quite difficult - I never know what papers to use and how to embellish them - flowers and ribbons don't seem right!LOL So I often think my male cards look at bit plain. Anyway I have made this using Katharina's Papertake Weekly sketch.
Hamish is in brown for a change and I have used the green and brown papers from Papermania's Nostaglia warm pack and cream cardstock. I embossed the cardstock using my Swiss Dots folder, and added a few brads. I have left the text off for the moment and there is space for an age number to be placed in the circle.

B is for Baby

This week's ABC challenge is B for Baby, so you need to make a project with a baby in mind. I have used Basic Grey's two scoops papers and Penny Black's Baby Hammock stamp, which I have watercoloured. The backing paper is embossed and I have used organza ribbon from my stash, a Making Memories flower, and a peel off.

Why don't you check out the design team's creations and have a go yourself.

Sweet n Sassy

I have coloured Sweet n Sassy in shades of pink, blue and green and matted her onto pink and green cardstock. The backing paper is fromK and Co and the flowers are Prima. The ribbons and brads are from my stash. I have kept it quite simple as the paper is a bit 'busy'!

Lilac Sarah Kay

I have been away to stay with my Mum and Dad for a couple of days with girls, and as is the norm, Beth has decided to be ill. She has had a bad cold which she has inevitably shared with me, so I am feeling lousy and not at all creative.
I finally completed the 15 baby cards and am trying to get back to making less pastel cards ... so this challenge was to use lilac!!! I am sorry I have used some, but I have opted also for the darker version of lilac, purple!!

I have used Precious Moments and Papermania cardstock, which has been embossed. The image is matted onto lilac mulberry paper which I have torn. I have added some lace, some Prima flowers and a Making Memories Hydraenga. I got carried away with different types of faux stitching (putting that down to the temperature!!). The image is not exactly where I wanted it to be... I sneezed at the wrong moment and DST and mulberry paper, well I am sure you will understand. I will add a greeting at a later date in the space in the top corner.

Thinking of others

The challenge set by Tilda and co was to make a something as a gift. It is a friend's birthday soon and so I have made a wallet card for her.

The wallet card is made using K & Co double sided paper. I have used Swing tilda for the image on the front, an organza bow and and K & Co accent.
The tag and gift card/voucher wallet fit into the slots behind.

The gift tag is made from Papermania cardstock and die cut.
I have used Tilda with a heart present and 2 of the goblin spell anemones. The stamp is from a See Dee set I have.
The gift voucher wallet is made from an ATC wallet template and is decorated with the same stamp, and ribbon as the gift tag. The image is Tilda with a basket.
I have tried to match all the Tildas so all the elements flow.

Its rainin' daisies!!

This week I have combined the Friday Sketchers sketch, designed by Carole, with the Penny Black Saturday challenge, which was to use buttons and brads.
I have used this gorgeous PB image, Rainin' Daisies, which I have not used for ages. I seem to have so many lovely stamps that I never get to use them all!
I have matted him onto papers from the Papermania Floral Retro collection. The burgundy organza ribbon is from my stash and the flowers are Prima. I have to confess to not really using buttons on my cards, so this button has been taken off a pair of trousers Beth has grown out of!

Thanks for looking.

CCT challenge - Outdoors

The Cute Card Thursday challenge theme this week is the Outdoors. I chose 2 Penny Black stamps and used K and Co and two Scoops papers, and green cardstock. Green brads and a peel-off finish the card off.
This is a simple birthday card for one of Ellie's friends.

Cards made out of ATCs

I'm not feeling very creative at the moment so I have used the ATCs I have made over the past week to make a couple of quick cards.
I don't often swap ATCs but quite like the challenge of making something so small. I also set myself the challenge of using some of the patterned papers I am less keen on.

I have used my Lavender and Lace Tilda ATC and matted her onto Papermania papers. The green looks more washed out on the pic than it does it real life.

For this card I have used one of the seasons ATCs I made. I have used papermania papers again and die cut flowers. I doodled round the edge of the paper - something I don't often do as I like things to be neat! The temptation to use the paper piercer was great, but I resisted!!
I have used a sketch created by Camilla, who has got some fab blog candy up for grabs.
