Metal Tags

Lisa at That Craft Place sells fab metal tags, and I thought I would have a play with some and do a couple of tutorials for the shop blog.

The first tag uses embossing folders and alcohol inks, and a bit of sanding ... you can find the tutorial here.

Then I had a play with the same embossing folder and acrylic paint ... here is the tutorial.

And finally I created something pretty for me using inks and stash from Lisa's shop.

It is simply a tin can, inked over using alcohol inks, and then I added black lace, a glittery butterfly and some tags I decorated, with a bit of fibre tied through them.

WOYWW

Its Wednesday!!!!  And so its that time to cruise across the crafty blogs in blogland, drooling over everyone's desks, led by the lovely Julia.

So here is my desk, late last night, mid playing.  I am having a play with metal tags ... I am gonig to be doing a tutorial for That Craft Place shop blog on ideas using metal tags ... so the alcohol inks and acrylic paints are out, lots of mess will ensue!
And here is a card that I have half made - well I have coloured it and got the papers sorted, it just got too dark to get flowers sorted.
And the DT project that I have had half made for about 3 weeks - I really must finish it!!

So I am going to spend the day today completing that card, photographing my tags and finishing of that DT project ... oh and working!!

Fairy cakes

I coloured this cute fairy in using my pens, glamour dusted her wings, and then cut her out using my nesties.  The sketch used an oval, but she is a bit large for an oval so I went with a circle.  I stitched the dp and then simply added ribbon and some flowers.  the sentiment is  from a freebie stamp set.

Bottle tops ...

Helen from the Crafting Time DT sent me some bottle tops to play with.  Now I confess to never having used bottle tops nor ever having the urge to rush out and buy some ... but I do like a challenge!!

So this is what I did with them ...

I used them as centres for Christmas tree decorations.  The dies are from Spellbinders Snowflake pendant 2011 , and I cut 2 of each out onto smooth cardstock.  I wanted something more robust than plain glossy photo paper, something that would stand up to being on a tree with 3 interested cats around!!

I used alcohol inks (cranberry, red pepper, water melon, gold, lettuce and bottle) and plenty of blending sollution to get the ink to blend smoothly on the card.   When they were thoroughly dry I spritzed then with some gold glimmer mist to add that bit extra sparkle.  Finally I layered them up and added the bottle caps and some gold trim to hang them with.

The theme for this week's Totally papercrafts Challenge is Halloween ...
I used this fab Kenny K image, and coloured her using my pens, adding some soft lime to her skin to spook her up a bit.  I followed Tim Holtz's basic ideas for his October tag, but created my own tissue paper using white tissue paper and a Kaisercraft stamp.I used distress inks and popiscle glimmer mist to create the background.  I used grungeboard letters, and added black alcohol ink to silver embossing powder.  Having inked the letters in black soot distress ink i added versamark ink and then the embossing powder - it created a really molten look to the letters.  I added a TH ticket stamp, ribbon webbing, stained seam binding and the witches hat charm.

I die cut the frosty border and corner out of white cardstock, and added some gems to the snowflakes.  I added the sentiment, some stickles and a bow.  I am trying to keep my Chritmas cards as flat as possible this year to keep postage down, so lots of single layers and no bulky embellishments.

WOYWW

Its Wednesday and I have a day of crafting planned as the girls are at their parents for the half term holiday.  I am also planning to spend some time hopping across the crafty blogs of blogland, courtesy of the lovely Julia and WOYWW.

Here was creative space yesterday, late afternoon ...

A bit of inking going on - and yes that  is pink!! ...

And more inking, blue this time!!  I love this stamp set Twinkle Toes ... it is from Clearly Besotted Stamps and such good quality, really thick acyrlic and a dream to stamp.

And here is what I made after all that inky fun ...
I stamped the ballerina in Versamark starlight and then in versafine oynx on a separate piece of card.  Having cut her out, I popped her onto 3d pads, added stickles round the "frame" and then added the girl.  The sentiment is from the same set.

This time I stamped the girl using versafine oynx and then stamped it onto scrap, before 'ghost' stamping it behind the girl.  I added stickles to the 'ground' and her wand.  The sentiment is again from the same set.

With the girls away I was able to 'pop' down to Eastbourne on Monday to visit the lovely Lisa who runs That Craft Place.  I am really lucky to be on her DT and she is an absolutely lovely lady.  She put me to work, assembling and painting a Tando Advent Tree (just like the one I was doing last week, and that is currently lying abandoned on my landing!!), and also making up hatpin kits.  It was a really long day - 8 hours round trip on the train, but I had a fab time.
