That Craft Place Challenge

Its Sunday and that means it's time for a That Craft Place challenge and the theme this week is animals ...

I went for butterflies!!!  I do like my butterflies, and I wanted to create something pretty, fresh and spring like.  I covered the tag with the papers and then stamped the butterfly stamp over the tag.  To make the ink paler I stamped it onto my craft mat first and then on to the tag.  I created the layered flower using the Joy flower die, and pinched the petals in to give it dimension.  I die cut the butterflies and leaves, added the punched border and some seam binding.

Easter CAS card

I try to make my Mum and Dad a religious focused Easter card - this lasercut cross from Hobbycutz is perfect for Easter, or a sympathy card.

I frantaged the cross using aged wine frantage (I LOVE this stuff!!) and simply matted it onto embossed white cardstock. I matted the cardstock onto SU eggplant cardstock before stamp the gothic corner from Visible Image directly onto the embossing and adding some white ribbon and a knot.  What I need is a 'serious' Easter sentiment stamp, not just the fun round ones i have from Crafty Sentiments!!

Distressing ...

I have done a couple of tutorials for the That Craft Place Inspiration blog on using distress inks to create backgrounds.

SO I made a tag and a card to demonstrate how you can use inks ...

I love the colours on this - I used Victorian Velvet, frayed burlap, vintage photo and faded jeans, and applied the inks using a blending tool. You can find all the details out here on how I made the background.  I simply stamped and masked the butterflies before adding the tall grass.

It loooks all summery, especially with Katie attracting those butterflies - I can't wait for the weather to warm up a wee bit!!   I added the ribbon, bow, button and pin, and some lace uder the fishtail banner.  Very girly, but not, if you know what I mean!!!

That Craft Place challenge

Its Sunday and that means it's time for a That Craft Place challenge and the theme this week is Wedding.

I made a paper bag album to give as a gift.  I created a button bouquet on the front using lots of buttons, lace, seam bindung and pearls.  I wired the layers of buttons together to create 'flowers' and then used silicon glue to stick them together.
Inside I decorated the first and last double page eaclty the same, cuting the patterned shape from the design paper and creating a pocket for the journalling tag.    Lots of flowers, pearls and seam binding, but plaenty of space to add photos or memories.

In the centre I used this gorgeous Visible image sentiment, very romantic, and this beautiful Kraftin Kimmie stamp - they do look elegant.  I cut die cut corners and added flwoers, seam binding, pearls and pearl stems.
And the last page.

The Hobbycutz Challenge

 Welcome to another Hobbycutz challenge.

The theme for this fornight is Easter gift boxes.  I made a little basket to hold Easter eggs, or maybe something more grown up for my Mum!!!

The basket is really easy to make - it is simply a square scored, cut and folded!  I added some patterned paper and punched the pretty detail out of the handle, before adding ribbon.  The die cuts, Swirly decorative corners/borders and Scrapbooking butterflies were painteed with white acrylic paint and then sprayed with Tattered Angels Concorde chalkobard and pearl glimmer mist.  Finally I added some pearls.

Moe recycling and lots of messy playing!

I love getting messy and playing and experimenting - I am blame Karen for showing me Ranger's sticky embossing powder and opening up the uses of frantage!!
I was playing with plastic milk bottles, which is a novelty as our milk comes in glass bottles.   I wanted to see if I could heat the plastic to emboss onto it - and yes you can!!  So having cut the flowers, butterflies and butterfly border out I got playing!!!  I used 2 colours of frantage on the border - I love how the gold melts on this!!  I then stamped some text over the butterflies and added sticking embossing powder, melted it and sprinkled glitter over it - wow!!!! That's all I can say!! The flowers are coloured using alcohol inks.
