Saturday Creations

Me and the girls are spending the wekend in the Lake District with my parents, so I have had a little time to make a couple of cards.
The first is for this week's Sketch Saturday. Its a fab sketch and I have rotated it.
I watercoloured the image and distressed the edges in Scattered Straw, dried marigold and shabby shutters. I added braid to the dp (very stokeable this paper!) and punched some flowers and added pearls.

My mum has asked me to make a card for her - strict instructions - NO flowers, fibbon, buttons or fuss. I have made this using this week's Penny black Saturday Challenge (swirls) and Stampin for the weekend's colour challenge (red and brown).

I coloured the image and matted it onto cardstock. I put some red cardstock through my D'vine Swirls folder and cut a panel and 2 squares. I pierced the edges of the cardstock and then put my hands behind my back so as not to grab ribbon, punches, buttons!! Mum loves it ... I NEED to add to it!!
Off to play out while it is still nice.

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge #40

This week's challegne has been set by Jane and it is this fabulous sketch.
And here's my take on it ...

Its a simple card as I have made it for one of the little boys I mind ... he was 4 last Monday and is obsessed with our train track. He got lots of Thomas accessories, including a giggling truck!
Anyway - the image is from Crafty Dowloads (link on my sidebar) and I coloured it using my promarkers. I matted the image and the dp onto navy cardstock. As it is for a little boy I have kept all the embellishments to a minimum - just brads.

The last two DT cards have been quite plain and simple - I promise something a bit more elaborate next week!
Do have a peek at the other DT creations and have a go yourself.

Friday Sketcher

Its another fab sketch over at Friday Sketchers and here's my take on it.
I coloured my image using copics - need more practise with these - am finding promarkers easier to blend! I inked the cardstock in purple ink and kept the sketch simple as the dp is very busy. Instead of flowers i used ribbon knots each side of the image.

Thank you Magnolia

A combined challenge again for me .. time is so short, and getting shorter at the moment!!
I have combined Cute Card thursday Thank you Miss, Just Magnolia's sketch and paper piecing over at Simon Says Stamp and come up with this ...

I paper peiced and promarkered Tilda. I matted all the dp on pale blue card stock and kept the flower details simple. This is going to Ellie's Preschool leader - not a very fussy woman and definitely not pink - a lady after my own heart lOL!!

Stained fingers mean ...

I've been playing and having fun. I watched the Tim Holtz video on Simon Says Stamp blog and have finally plucked up the courage to have a go with the Perfect Pearls I have had for ages. He has a fab technique for them.
This is the end product of my playing ...
Here's how I did it:

I wet distressed my cream cardstock with Peeled Paint and dried it thoroughly.
Using Mahogany distress ink I stamped my scrolls ...then painted the patina [erfect pearls over the top whilst it was wet.

Having brushed off the exces it looks like this. Then the bit I was really worried about - I spritzed it with water and dried it with the heat gun.

This is what it looked like as the ink under the perfect pearls reacted with the water .. heart in mouth moment!!
And after drying it looks like this. I personally like the little run out of the ink and the sheen you get is fantastic.
I also made a centre panel for the card. I distressed some cardstock in tattered rose (laid it on a bit thick for a darker colour) and them put a mask on and used the peeled paint to distress over the top.
So it looks like this.
I then distressed all the edges using Maghogany.

Finally I added my image and some flowers spritzed in olive green glimmer mist.
I am really pleased with this - shaem I have so much design paper in my craft room - I am loving making my own!!
Off to try and clean the hands up!!

My favourite things

I had a very early start this morning so I have made a card!! I did no crafting yesterday as my asthma was really bad - this weather is doing nothing for my breathing!!
Anyway I have follwed Katharina's sketch from the Whiff of Joy challenge and combined it with all my favourite things (Papertake Weekly). My favourite things are - distress inks, flowers, stamps, punches, these gorgeous papers ...

I coloured the image using my distress inks and distressed it using tattered rose, shabby shutters and aged mahogany. I distressed all my papers in aged mahogany. The flowers and punched leaves are glimmer misted in gold, and I added some punched swirls.

Ellie has come down with a high temperature during the night ... so no pre-school for her today, but hopefully she'll rest so I can craft!

ABC challenge .. V is for ...

Vellum
Oh boy this has been a challenge for me!! I have purchased the first lot of vellum I have ever owned for this challenge!!
What came to mind was the special weddin and baby albums with the vellum sheets protecting each photo, so I have made my card in that style.
Here's the front. The vellum is attached to the underneath using eyelets, and I have used organza ribbon and puched vellum flowers as the decoration, just as an album front might be decorated.
Inside I created my own background (see later) and watercoloured Tilda. I added glimmer misted flower soft to the basket and the same organza ribbon from the front.

So it stands like this ...

This is the backing paper - I used a Tim Holtz mask and distress the cardstock using antique linen as the base and the tattered rose over the mask. I spritzed it with Frost glimmer mist. The glimmermist reacts with the ink and you get some great colouration.

Do take a peek at the other DT creations.

Cornflower blue and cocoa

There seems to be a colour theme gonig on in the craft room today!! Blue and brown!!
Here's my card for this week's Passion for Promarkers challenge, which is cornflower blue and cocoa and a sketch.
I was determined not to use the papers I used earlier so I struggled a bit to find some dp to match. This Gorguss Girl saw her first inking up today (hanging head in shame!), and having been coloured in using Cornflower blue, Blue pearl, sandsotne, cocoa, henna, ivory and blush, I cut her out using my nesties. I have used brown and blue coredinations carstock and some orangey browny blue dp. I cut the little ovals outusing my nesties and added punched flowers.
Not sure about it ... but I've already sold it!

I love Tuesday mornings!!!

Oh and Thursday mornings!! Both girls are at preschool so I craft!! No housework, just up to 2 hours of crafting. I love it!
So I have knocked challenges on the head this morning and made a bit of money as both cards are commissions for twin girls - both very different! I have used the same colours and papers, but am surprised at how different they look.
The first card uses Stamp with Fun's sketch, buttons and bows (The Next Level) and ribbons (Creative Card Crew).

I coloured my Gorguss girl and the matted her onto brown and blue dp. This sketch is lovely and simpl so I kept the dp simple, and again matted it onto corresponding blue and brown dp. I added a big organza bow to it. I used blue organza for the side pieces and added brown buttons. A big blue flower with button centre finishs it off.
Sister number 2 is less fussy so I used the Sunday Sketch and Satamp sketch, and combined it with A Spoonfull of Sugar's hearts challenge.
Again my image is coloured in promarkers and I added some tiny pink heart gems to the dress (she does token pink unlike her sister!!). I matted the image onto brown and blue dp, and matted the patterned dp onto brown dp. I added brown ribbon and stamped the sentiment using sepia ink. Strictly no flowers, bows, fuss!!
Both images really do reflect the girls!! Hopefully mum will like them.
Well I've got time for a coffee, then its get the girls, and they are having a friend for lunch so teddy butties are on the menu!

Willow with Flower basket

Katharina is planning a blog hop to celebrate Whiff of Joy's 1st anniversary. To be in with a chance of playing along, you need to create a card using a sketch by katharina. I have rotated my sketch.

I coloured Willow in using my distress inks and distressed her using Antique Linen and Tattered Rose. I matted her up on to dp and then created my own dp (see below as to how I did it). I added flowers and roses that I glimmer misted, and a tag cut from dp (no sentiment as not sure what I am going to use this card for). A flower charm finished it off.
Here is the inside, very simple.

Here's how I made my dp:
I distressed my cardstock panel using tattered rose ink.

I added a Tim Holtz mask and then distressed the panel with faded jeans ink.

Finally I spritzed it all with Frost Glimmer mist.

I am really loving playing with these masks and my distress inks - fingers are an interesting shade though!!

Sketch and Stash 14

It's time for another Sketch and Stash. i can't believe we are up to challenge 14 already! Here's the sketch ...
I used my new Magnolia watering can stamp and some very neglected gingham ribbon.

I masked Tilda and then coloured the image using my promarkers and copics. I coloured some chipboard corners in using promakers and inked the edges of my papers. I punched a couple of flowers and added a charm and a button.
Do check out the other DT cards and I can't wait to see what you do with the sketch and all your new or neglected stash.

Simon Says ....

I have finally got round to joining in a Simon Say Stamp challenge, and its a colour challenge, lemon, orange, apple green and pink. I used the Sketch Saturday sketch for the layout, and rotated by 180 degrees.
I watercolured the image and distressed it using spiced marmalade and mustard seed. I used my Glimmer mist screen and spiced marmlade ink to creat the botton right corner detail. All the dp is distressed. I added prima flowers, brads, ribbon and acharm to finish the sketch.
I've just noticed there's something green at the top left corner of the card that shouldn't be there!

Red white and blue

Both the Penny Black Saturday Challenge and Our Creative Corner have got colour challenges .. red, white and blue. F|or my Penny Black stamps this was going to be a challenge, but I finally chose this gorgeous, cuddly bear.
I coloured the image in using my promarkers and matted it in blue and red. I embossed blue cardstock uding my Swis Dots folder and turned it over and matted it onto red cardstock. I embossed white cardstock using my hearts folder and matted it onto blue and red cardstock. I added red organza ribbon to finish it.
I have a card sale in a couple of weeks and this style of card sells well so I'll be making a few more!!

Pink and Fluffy

Threre is a new challenge blog called Crafty Downloads. They are running monthly challenges and are looking for Design team members.
For this month's challenge you need to use Angelic Molli and make a pink and fluffy card. Three people will be picked to become design team members.

I coloured Molli in using my promarker and matted her on to the dp and then white cardstock. I matted the dp onto white cardstock ( and restisted the urge to distress it!). I added pink feathers and a pink flower with a large gem in the middle. Gems in the top and bottom corners complete the card.

SCSC challenge week #39

This week's Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge has been set by me and it is to use three ribbons on your card. I had intended to use three different ones, but as Ellie has been in charge of the designing of this card we only got to use the one ribbon - 3 times!
This is for one of Ellie's Pre-school leaders as she moves to Primary school in September. Ellie has chose the papers and the image, which I coloured in using Promarkers. I kept the layout very simple as the papers are quite busy!! I added three ribbon tags to the image. Finally I stamped and matted a sentiment.

Here's another card for the leaders (there's 6 of them!)

Again really simple and rather bright!!

Do take a peek at the other DT creations and I look forward to visiting you and seeing what you have come up with.
