Hearts and flowers

Another combined challenge for me ... crafting time seems to be slipping away from me during the week, so I have combined the Spoonfull of Sugar sketch with the Papertake Weekly Challenge, Hearts and flowers.

I watercoloured the image in and resisted the temptation to distress her!! So instead I did some faux stitching! The papers are all from a co-ordinating pack and come with the matching lace ribbon, so all I needed to do was raid my flower stash for some flowers! The dp does have rises on it, and the image has hearets on it to, so got both hearts and flowers in there! I wrote the sentiment myself.
Recipe:
Stamp(s): Penpal (Sugar Nellie)
Colouring Media: Distress inks
Papers: Fancy Pants
Embellishments: Prima flowers, Fancy Pants ribbon, brads from stash

Friday Sketcher

Well I'm back!! I hope you all had a fab Christmas and got the things you wanted.

I had a lovely few days at my parents for Christmas. The girls had a great time opening all their presents and playing with their new toys and games, so I got some peace and quiet! Ellie is well and trully recovered from her operation and is positively glowing (shame he couldn't have removed her voice box as well as the tonsils!!), but Beth has been quite poorly over Christmas with a nose like a tap and infected ears. However she has needed her Grandad not me ... so I was OK! The cat survived staying with my parents dog - not sure which is going to need therapy!
My lovely hubby bought me lots of Promarkers and my Mum got me a stack of Dsitress inks so I have spent a few days curled up in front of a fire trying out my new toys! Still need a bit of practice, but the three cards I have posted today were coloured using either distress inks or promarkers.

I have made a little promise to myself (having hit the Glitterpot sale big time!) that I am not going to get any more stash until I have used most of what I have - I seem to have flowers, papers and ribbons pouring out of my craft room, and yet I feel the need to buy more ... so I am going to resist. I am not, however, opening a book on how long I will last!

Anyway, this is the card I made using the Friday Sketcher sketch (a bit late but it is Christmas!!).

I used my new Promarkers to colour her in and Basic Grey Sugared papers. I used my large sizzix tag die to cut the tags. I went a bit mad with the faux stitching and stitched everything! The organza ribbon is from my stash, as are the brads.

Off to play with the girls and their train set (they are very keen on Brio!). Have a lovely evening and if I don't get on the 'pooter tomorrow

Happy New Year.

A few cards

I finally got round to some crafting yesterday and managed to make 3 cards for 4 challenges!

The first one follows the Saturday Sketch and uses Wassail papers by Basic Grey. I love these little Penny Black mice, they look so cute. I added braid, gems and flowers from my stash, and did some faux stitching in gold pen.

This card follows the Friday Sketchers sketch for this week. Again I have used Basic Grey's Wassail papers. The papers edges are inked in gold ink and I have faux stitched in gold. I added a couple of Prima flowers, gold scroll cut with my sizzix die, gorgeous velevet ribbons and some tiny gems. I have decided to use this as a birthday card for a relative who has a December birthday.

The last card I made was for the new Magnolia meets Stampavie challenge. The first challenge is a sketch, which I have rotated. I love this teddy bear. I watercoloured the image and added tiny red gems for the berries. The edges are inked in blue ink, and I decided on to matt the image, just leave it inked, as I didn't want a really fussy, busy card. The papers are Daisy D's Snowflakes and Holly, flowers are Prima and the braid is from my stash.

This is going to be Beth's Christmas card, and the lone flower has been added by Ellie, as in her words "it looks right". Who am I to argue with a 3 year old!!

Flowers and swirls

I have made this card for a friend, as a thank you card. I followed this week's Friday sketcher sketch, and used Basic Grey's Eva papers. The Basic Grey challenge is to use stitching, and I love a bit of stitching. I am also entering it into Suzanne's Breast Cancer awareness challenge. Pop over to her blog to find out more about it.
Papers: Basic Grey Eva, cardstock
Ribbon: organza ribbon, braid from stash
Flowers: Prima
Embellishments: Papermania gems, swirls cut using sizzix die

Hot chocolate for Autumn

It is very autumnal here today (windy, the leaves are falling, and its raining!). So I have used the view from the window of trees and the fells to inspire me. The Whiff of Joy challenge is to use stitching, and I love a bit on stitching, and the My Time to Craft challenge is to use leaves.

I have used this gorgeous image - imagine drinking hot chocolate on a breezy, wet autumn day- scrummy! I have picked colours and textures that remind me of autumn. I used Basic Grey papers and card from my stash, and I distressed the edge of the image with brown ink. Plenty of faux stitching on the papers and the Magnolia leaves even have stitching on them. Finally I added some lace, prima flowers and copper wire loosely coiled to give the impression of swirling leaves.

Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow so we can go out somewhere.

ABC Challenge K is for ...

Katharina Sketch
Katharina has done this fabulous sketch for this week's ABC challenge.

This is my interpretation of the sketch.

I have rotated the sketch so I could use this gorgeous Sugar Nellie, Picking Apples. I have coloured her using Aqua Promarkers, and used my nesties to matt her. The dp are by K and Co and the brown cardstock from my stash. I faux stitched round all the papers, added lace and ric rac, before finishing it off with some copper wire and Prima flowers.

I am looking forward to seeing all your interpretations of the sketch.

Tilda and wire

I haven't done a Sketch Saturday challenge before, so this is the week to start!!! I love the sketch and have had a lovely time creating this card (no children/husband/phone interruptions - bliss!!)

This has to be one of my favourite Tildas at the moment - I adore her little pigtails and dungarees. I have coloured her using my aqua promarkers and then matted her onto brown cardstock. The dp is Nostalgic Warn from Papermainia and brown cardstock. The green is from my scraps tray, and I used lace rather than scalloped paper. I went a bit mad with the faux stitching and did it all by hand rather than using my cutterbee - thats probably why there is a single stitch the same length! I finished it off with some Prima flowers and copper wire.

ABC challenge I is for ...

INDIVIDUAL

This week the ABC I challenge is for Individual. We are lucky to be sponsored by Inklebods who have given a wonderful stamp called Mikey for the winner. The winner will also be asked to join the design team as a regular team member, so if you are interested pop over to the ABC Challenge to find out more.

We would like to see your best work, in your favourite style and medium, we want to see your own individual style.

I love this Tilda image, and have coloured her in using my Promarkers. I chose brown and red/pink as a colour scheme as it is quite rich and autumnal, and I love the colours and light effects we get in autumn.

I used my nestibilities to cut all the ovals and oval frames. For the smaller ovals I used a technique I haven't used for a while, serendipity (or collage to any teachers out there!!), as I love the hotchpotch effect it creats. The papers are K and Co and Papermania and the brown card is from my stash. I added some faux stitching, ribbon and copper wire. The flowers are Prima, with tiny gems in the middle.

If you have time, why don't you have a go at the challenge.
