Cute Card Thursday

The Cute Card Thursday challenge this week is to use patterned papers. I love my patterned papers - the only problem I have had is choosing the papers so ... I have ended up with 3 cards!!!

On the first one I chose Papermania's Raspberry Champagne Creative Tones papers. I love the daisy paper and cut swirls of briars from a matching paper to create the effect of Tilda walking through flowers. Iuused this idea in my Papertake Wekkly Lime and Lilac challenge and really like the effect. However I am not sure it has quite worked this time, I think it might need some green.

So then I had a go with with this lovely Tilda.
I used Papermaina retro floral papers and matted Tilda onto them. I love the contrast between the brown and the blue.
Instead of adding ribbon I used some check paper left over from another card (Basic Grey's Two Scoops).
I was tempted to add a large flower but wasn't sure when I tried it - might get a bit too busy!

Finally I had a go with a Sugar Nellie Tracy sent me. I loved colouring her in and could become addicted to sugar Nellies!!
I have used K&Co Kimberley Hodges strippy paper and put it through my Bug to add some texture. I have used papers from Papermania's Retro Floral pack - I chose the brown to co-ordinate with the brown chairs and add a bit of darker, les bright colour. I have used some cerise ribbon to join the papers together, and a die cut flower to finish it off.
I have to say it is a bit loud for me, but I loved playing with these papers.

Hope you like them.

Papertake Weekly card

This week's Papertake challenge is to make a masculine card. I have made this card for my Dad - the girls are going to give it to their Grandad.

I have used Edwin and Rufus (who is now a dalmation like our family dogs!) and matted him onto green cardstock. I have used K&Co and DCWV backing papers and some star and square gems by papermania to finish it off. Its a bit blingy for a man - but what little girls like!!

This is my gorgeous baby boy - he is 13 now and we have had him since the day he was born. He's not so good now with chronic arthritis so he doesn't walk well and often falls down- but he is still gorgeous.

Its been a busy few days!

I haven't been around or crafting for the last few days as we have been really busy getting ready for the weekend. Me and the girls support my lovely hubby in one of his hobbies - 17th century battle re-enactment. There was a small living history do this weekend so I have been making the girls new costumes for it due to a growth spurt! I have been maning to make Ellie a new dress for weeks, but I sew better under pressure!

We did the living history event and fortunately the weather was good - its not much fun sitting in a canvas tent in the rain!! The girls enjoyed it and managed to entertain themselves - not easy when they couldn't take their favourite ball or dolls!!

Ellie Beth

Because the girls were so good over the weekend we have taken them on the East Lancs railway today and for a MacDonalds - they feel duly treated!!! Both of them are train mad, particularly Beth so today was a real treat for them. My daughters are not girly girls, although Ellie loves pink!!!!

Having a good time - Beth is grinning and saying cheese (looks a bit scary though!!)

I managed to get a couple of cards made last night, so the crafting is back and the sewing put away for a few weeks! I am in the process of checking out all my SBS sisters blogs - sorry if you don't get long comments today!!!

Hugs

PS I hope you've all had a good bank holiday weekend.

Tilda and co challenge

Challenge 21...

TORN/TEAR

We would love to see your Torn/Tear work

This could be a simple little tare on a part of your work or the main focus, Have fun and just go crazy! Tear your wonderful Papers get them used!

This was a great challenge - I have used up some of my scraps for this.

The card has a very purple theme to it!! The background card is pearlised lilac and Tilda is watercoloured in lilac. I can't remember where I got the papers - I think the outer ones are K and Co. I have used purple faux stitching and two large Papermania flowers with purple gems in the centres to finish the card off.

I am really pleased with this card.

Friday Sketchers card

I really enjoyed making this card. I love this Magnolia stamp and I think these papers from Papermania's Retro Floral pack are gorgeous.

I watercoloured Tilda in lilacs and blue. Ellie begged me to colour something pink (my older daughter is a girl after my SBS sister Sue's heart!!) so thepink concession is the socks!

I decided to do some faux stitching as I haven't done any for a while -this and these flowers (Making Memories) I think just add the finishing touches.

I've been tagged

Ive been tagged by my lovely SBS sister Ev and since my beautiful 3 year old is up (waiting for Daddy who is 3 hours late thanks to the trains!!!) I have asked her for some facts about me (already dreading it!!!!)

So these are Ellie's 6 facts about me:

  1. I have brown hair

  2. I like playing hide and seek (I don't, she does!!)

  3. My craft stuff is really hers - WHAT!!!

  4. naini (my mum) lives up a fell with sheep (yes to clarify, my mum does live in the Lake District in a house with my dad - the sheep live in the field!!)

  5. Mummy like to make cards - but not with Beth (little sister)(this is true as Beth (20 mths) loves scissors!!)

  6. Mummy doesn't like Lazy Town (OK this is not craft related but anyone with small children that is subjected to CBeebies or Nick Jr is going to have to agree with me on this one - it is a total load of rubbish - try explaining that to a 3 year old who wants pink hair and to be like Stephanie.)

So there you go - a little bit off the wall but that is my gorgeous one!! (Not as bad as I thought it might be!!)

Ellie and

CCT challenge card

This weeks Cute Card Thursday challenge is this fab sketch by Katharina.

I love this sketch and am going to make a few more tonight!!

This is my card for the challenge.

I have used pink pearlised cardstock for the card and layered papers from Papermania's Raspberry Champagne Creative Tones. The brown papers are from DCWV Pocketful of Posies stack. They were offcuts that I have used as ribbons and the bottom contrast on the card.

The image is Tilda in a Heart dress and she is matted onto pearlised cardstock as is the sentiment.

Hope you like it.

A Quick card

With an ATC swap from my SBS sister Tracy I got this gorgeous Hippo image. I have watercoloured her and used Papermania's Retro Floral papers.

I was given a quilling set by a dear friend(??!) and so the quilled petals are my own first attempts. Not too bad - just not the same size or shape!!

What do you think?

Papertake weekly challenge

This is my entry for Katharina's sketch on the Papertake weekly Challenge blog.

The image is Penny Black's The Three Meows.

I have layered and matted various papers. I have to say it not a colour scheme I would naturally choose, but it seems to suit this stamp really well. I also can't make my mind up whether I need a bit of omphh in the colour now I've done it.

card for several challenges

This is a card for several challenges. I have made it using the my paper world sketch for this week.
The Tilda and Co challenge was to use beads - I have strung some beads on silver elastic down the left hand side of the card.
It also qualifies for sbs18 challenges as it for my mum - I just hope she likes it!!

CCT/Friday Sketchers card

I have not been doing much crafting over the last few days - lots else going on in my life. As time is in short supply I have combined 2 challenges into 1 this week. Cute Card Thursday's challenge this week is to create a card with a vacation/travel theme. They are offering a fab Tilda stamp as a prize.
The Friday Sketcher sketch this week has proved quite a challenge for my tired brain. I have really struggled getting stuff straight - everything is slightly slanted - a bit like me at the mo!!!

My older daughter (3 years old) thinks Tilda is stood in front of Blackpool Tower - so this is card is really titled Tilda does Blackpool (not Paris)!!

Hope you like it.

Ismaki Sketch 19 and other cards.

I decided to have a got at doing the Ismaki sketch this week as the layout is well out of my comfort zone - not keen on diamonds!

Thanks to the papertake challenge I am in a lime/green and lilac/purplie mood so my card would qualify for that challenge (but I've already done one!). I also managed to get a sparkly bit on the card, fulfilling the extra on the isamki challenge.

I have use Papermania's Pastel papers and Olivine Elegance papers as the backgrounds, and mounted a K&Co Grand Adhesion glittery flower onto K&Co papers. I have used some small glittery flowers on the points of the diamond.

Maths is not my strong point so getting the dimensions for the diamond right was quite hard - lots of altering!

I have been a little stamp happy over the last few months and not really used embellishments as a focal point for my cards. When I saw these grand Adhesion embellishments I just had to have them. They work really well with the Creative Tones papers from Papermania and pastel coloured pearlised card. I have just finished the detail off by adding gems.

Sadly they are 3D so they didn't scan into too well.

Hope you like them,

Tilda and Co challenge

Challenge 19*
It's time for a bit of black and white theme, ideally no other colours to be used on you work.
(but if you are struggling with this then your magnolia image ( or 1 of if using more than 1 )may have 1 more colour of your choice.

I loved this challenge - it gave me the opportunity to use these papers from DCWV Glitter Stack. I have been struggling with what to do with these papers!!
I have used 3 papers and layered them to create a flowers and stars and a path.
I chose 2 Tildas - Summery Tilda and Tilda with Flower (in Wellies). I have given them black hair - can't make my mind whether I like them with black hair! and shaded their dresses/flowers/wellies.
I stuck a thin satin black ribbon onto white organza and made a bow.
I am amazed at how effective this card looks.
Hope you like it.

PS - not sure I like Tilda's feet - they look just a bit big to me!!

Papertake weekly challenge.

This weeks challenge is another colour combination!

Luscious Lime and Lilac - or any shades of green and purple!

The challenge this week is sponsored by Katty at SkattyKats.

I really enjoyed making this card - its a while since I used embellishments rather than stamps, and made a card that didn't have a cute image!!
I love these Creative Tones Papers by Papermania. I have used paper from the Amethyst Infusion as a background and cut corners out of the Olivine Essence papers. The glitzy flowers are from K and Company. They are layered and have lovely gems at the centre.
Sadly scanning the card has not done it justice as the gems didn't allow the lid to shut properly.
Hope you like it.

1st ATCs

Not the best pic ever - but these are the 1st three ATCs I have ever made - thanks to Jaqui, Ella Bella and Samantha.

I can't believe how hard they were to make - there is no space to put all the little fiddly bits! The challenge now is to find smaller images - yes I am going to make more.

Image -Tilda with heart present

Papers - Papermania Retro Floral

DCWV Pocketful of posies

Quilling- fromVicky - I took it off a topper that I was unhappy with - not Vicky's quilling, just

what I did with it!! It looks better on this.

Friday Sketcher's Challenge

friday sketchers is a new challenge blog - it is their first challenge this week. Up for grabs is a fabulous stampset called Gretchen.

This is the first sketch. And I love it.

I got carried away last night and did several cards using this sketch.

As the cards are in pink they also qualify for this week's Pink challenge at thank god its friday

I used a Penny Black stickeroo for this card. The cardstock is all from The Papermill Shop. I used a Cuttlebug ebossing folder for an extra layer on the background. I used Anits's sticky ribbbons and finished it off with Papermania's adhesive gems.

I then had a go at rotating the sketch onto a DL card- again in pink (my SBS sister Sue with be very proud of me!!). I have used papermaina papers and cardstock, Anitas Sticky ribbons and Papermaina flower gems. The image is Tilda and present.
Hope you like them.

Cute Card Thursday

Challenge 9

Gems and Jewels

This week our challenge is to use gems or jewels on your card, it's as easy as that!

This is my entry for this week's challenge - I love using gems so it was a good one for me.

The image is Penny Black's Sweet Slumber - that mouse is such a cute little thing! I have watercoloured the image and matted it not red and orangy-yellow card. I have used a larger piece of the red and layered everything onto spotty papers by the English Co.
I added a sticky ribbon to the red card and finally 7 star gems.
I have used the adapted Ismaki Sketch that I have been playing with.
I am pleased with the result (particularly as I am sleep deprived as older daughter has tonsillitus!).

Got some mo-jo back!

Thank you very much to my SBS 17 sisters for their kind words and advice. I have had a go tonight at adapting some sketches that I have seen and am really pleased with the results.
I have used some images given to me by Vicky.

This is Dala Tilda - I wasn't sure about her to start with - I think I expect Tilda to have long hair!! However having coloured her I think she's lovely.

I have never mounted an image onto an aperature before - but have seen it done lots, particularly with Tilda so I thought I'd have a go.

Tilda is sat on the edge of the circle and I used foam pads to lift her off the background.

The green backing is from Papermania's Colossal pack and the flowered papers from DCWV's Pocketful of Posies matt stack.

Having done it I'm not sure the 2 floral papers work together, but I'm pleased with the overall effect.

I went well out of my comfort zone for this one and used PINK! I have adapted an Ismaki sketch slightly.

This is Tilda in a heart dress - the overskirt is coloured a very pale pink.

I mounted her onto pastel pink cardstock and then pink daisy paper. I used the same pink cardstock for the matting panel and placed all of it on Papermania Colossal paper.

The fringing is from a ribbon I got in a swap - I tried to be clever and stick it with DST - spent about 20 minutes peeling all the fronds off the DST!!!

The flower and button were also freebies.

The pink panel looked a bit lonely so I added 3 pink gems (Papermania).

I can't believe how many shades of pink I have used and yet there doesn't seem to be any clashing - phew!

Just a note on my last posting - the brown ribbon has been banished to the box.
Hubby thinks the pussy cat in the black bra is a bit saucy and suggestive - not sure which planet he's on!!

Lots of inspiration - but lacking mo-jo

I am spending a lot of time browsing everyone's fantastic blogs and getting ideas from all over the place - however I am just not translating them into anything. For example I had a go at Katharina's tutorial on a fancy border using Fiskars shape cutter and punch - its in the bin!!

I seem to be producing the same types of cards - I need and want to step out of my comfort zone.

I have tried to do this tonight and I have produced these 2 cards. Both use backing papers in a bolder or different way to which I generally do.

I love this Penny Black stamp - Uplifting Occasion. That pussy cat is soooo cheeky. I have done the bras in loads of different colours.

However in honour of the "lovely" little pussy cat that chooses to use my prize flower bed as her toilet (!) I have used a black and red scheme for the bra. I have coloured the cat as close as to my furry "friend" as possible.

I have matted the image onto red and black card stock and used papers from Papermania's black tones to finish. The ribbons are Anitas sticky's.

I love this Tilda stamp - I have watercoloured her and matted her onto three layers of Papermania's Retro Floral papers. I have used Papermanaia metallic brads in the corners.

As a different aproach to the backing papers I have used Papermanias Retro Floral papers to create a large stripe effect.

I am tempted to add a thin strip of brown ribbon to the bottom - not sure yet.

What do you think??
