PBSC - raining daisies sketch

I haven't done the last couple of PBSC challenges as I was eastered out and then away, so i was looking forward to this week's challenge, which is a sketch by Nat.

I do love this little cutie, and have watercoloured him in. I used papers from the same BG paper, I love this pack! I have kept it all simple, just a bit of ribbon and a punched flower and swirl. I am on a mission to use up my stash (before a good friend of mine starts putting it on Ebay ... you know who you are LOL!!) so I have used a neglected pack of flower gems for the centre of my flower.

ABC challenge I is for ...

Inside

This week we would like to see you decorate, embellish or otherwise enhance the inside of your card.

Ww are attending a close friend's daughter's wedding in a month. Dave has known her since the day she was born, and I have known her since she was 5 (ouch thats a long time!!). So I have used this challenge to make a wedding card for them.

This is the outside of the card, the serious bit ...

I generated the text on the computer and cut it out and matted it using my labels nesties. I added organza ribbon to the dp and a prima flower and a heart charm. The swirls are made using my EK success punch. The navy organza is fastened at the back of the card and holds the card closed so it fits in an evelope more easily.

And the inside is more cute, and a pop up ...

I watercoloured the image and cut it out using my fiskars cutter. I used the same labels nesties for the greeting, and followed the ribbon and flower detail through from the front.
Oh and I decorated the back to in order to secure the navy ribbon tie.
OK so this is how I made the pop up bit inside ...

First I made the card blanks, the outer measuring 13.5cm by 27cm, and the inner 13cm by 26 cm. I used pearlised card for both to add some strength to it, but you can use paper for the inside one if you want. I scored and folded them.
I covered the inner with my design paper, putting a thick width of glue across the centre fold so the paper is secureed to the card.
Next from each edge I marked in 5 and 1/2cm on the centre fold, and 2cm above and below the fold at this point and joined the marks to make 4cm parallel lines.
I scored these lines and then eased the pop out section out so a tab is formed.
To make the image with the daisy sitting outside the circle I used my Fsikars shape cutter. I placed the template as shown so I got a flat bottom and could have the flower sitting outside the circle rim.
Finally I stuck the image onto the tab and decorated the inside.
Finally assemble the card by putting the inner and outer together, making sure the centre folds sit flush so it opens and closely properly.

April Showers and Christmas

Its been a mixed weekend really - horrible weather yesterday, and glorious sunshine today. Hubby is poorly, Ellie's still got a cough and Beth is ... well just Beth!! Dave took the girls to see old buses yesterday so I could get some crafting done ... made a couple of cards, sorted out and put away a load of toys and booked our summer holiday! Today I have taken the girls to a bouncy castle and football party - they now look like beetroots and are exhausted!
Anyway, as I said I made a couple of cards yesterday. The first uses the Sketch Saturday sketch, Faux stitching (Secret Crafter) and is a spring card (PBSC) - well I have done April showers which is spring (got a bit fed up of all the Easter cards I am making and the pastel colours!)
I watercoloured this gorgeous teddy and cut it out using my nesties. I haven't used this BG paper for ages, but thought it fitted the sketch and the spring theme with the colours and flowers. I used my cutter bees to pierce the paper for the faux stitching. I added a few flowers and wrote the sentiment myself, and put it in the centre of a flower.
I finally got round to the JCBC sketch - I have had the papers out and the image coloured for a few days.
I thought I would go for colours I don't normally use on Christmas cards - I got the 12x12 paper stack for about £5 after Christmas. I think it wotks. I added ribbon and punched snowflakes.

Well now I am going to go and sort duplo out into boxes - isn't that fun!! Have a great afternoon.

Sketch and Stash #6

Its time for another fab sketch by Becky ... I rotated the sketch through 180 degrees for my card.

If you read my Christmas card post from last week, this was the stamp I ordered, it is called Let it Snow, but I got the PB mouse one by mistake, which they let me keep, beofre this one arrived. Its the 1st time I have used the stamp. I stamped it onto black card using Versamark and then embossed it with silver tinsel embossing powder. I embossed the white cardstock using my snowflake folder (I have tried and tried to get a better photo that shows the ebossing) and then added stickles. I added a little organza ribbon and a snowflake created with my new snowflake punches, and some stickles in the centre of it. I haven't added a sentiment as the stamp has its own!
Do take a look at the other DT members' creations and the Guest DT member Alison's.

ABC challenge ... E is for ...

EASTER
Start now and get those Easter cards made!! I was going to make a religious card for this week's challenge as I always send my Mum and Gran religious ones. However I found this image, given to me by someone ... anyone!! ... and I love it.
Its watercoloured with distress inks, still my favourite medium at the moment, and doodled round the edges. I have kept the card simple, letting the papers come through. I matted the image onto to colours of cardstock and used matching cardstock as the card base. I cut the dp into triangles and addedflower brads, ribbon, and a peel off -simple really.

Do check out the other DT members fab creations and I look forward to seeing all your Easter creations.

A couple of quick cards

We have been away overnight at Vicky's -I got to play with her stamp collection and she played with my distressed inks!
I coloured the images at Vicky's and have made the cards this afternoon.
The 1st one is for the PBSC challenge which is food.
The image is watercoloured and I have distressed the backgound. I have used a mix of pink cardstock and DCWV Nursery stack. The ribbon is from my stash and I doodled the stitching and the sentiment.
The 2nd card is for this week's Secret Crafter challenge ... transport.

Again the image is watercoloured and I have distressed the papers and inked them. I have kept the layout simple and only added brads as embellishments.
Hubby is cooking tea so I think I am going to have a play with my Gorjuss Girls.

Diamond duckling

Its a sketch challenge over at the Saturday Secret Crafter this week. It is niteresting that both Friday Sketcher and Secret Crafter have done triangles on their cards ... I love both sketches and have mastered cutting the triangles!
I have made a cheerful spring card, that I will probably use as an Easter card. I watercoloured the image and cut it out using my nesties. I love these papers and matted them onto matching golden yellow cardstock. I cut the photo corners using a woodware chipboard one as a template. Flower brads finish it off.
I am really 'off' over embellishing my cards at the moment, definitely liking a more clean and simple look ... oh and it saves on stash LOL!!

Get well card

I have combined 3 challenges for this card:
PBSC - Get well card
Sketch Saturday Sketch
Stamp Something - 3D

I watercoloured the image a couple of times and distressed the edges with distress ink. My waterbrush is misbehaving at the moment so the hedgie looks a bit blotchy! I cut and decoupaged the hedgehog and 3 of the daisies. As Ellie was hanging around I let her glitter the daisies which is why they are GLITTERED! I matted the image and papers onto orange cardstock and added the sentiment.

Embellishments: Prima flowers, brads from stash, computer generated sentiment

Cuddles

I have combined this week's Friday Sketcher with the Charima Cardz challenge, hugs and cuddles. I am not overly happy with the card, hubby says its lovely, but I'm not sure. I haven't been well for the last couple of days, so I'm putting my doubts down to that.
I coloured the image and distressed the background. I love these papers, and often layer the flowers up to add some depth. As the papers are quite busy I have just used simple brown buttons for the embellishment. No sentiment yet, I only add them when I use the card.
Beth's been back to the doctors ... the 'virual' rash that she has had for a month is now excema so she is on a steriod cream to reduce the inflamation and itching. The poor little thing has scratched herself raw. But hopefully the cream will work quickly and I can stop saying "don't scratch" - I soundlike a broken record at the moment.
Hoping to do some crafting today, so hopefully there will be more to show later.

2 Christmas cards

I have got a bit slack with my resolution to make at least 1 Christmas card a week, but I loved the sketch over at Just Christmas and Birthday cards, so have made a couple of cards. I have rotated the sketch for both cards.
I do adore these ickle mice, they look so cosy. They are coloured in distress inks and the papers are all from my scrap tray (got to use them up so I can buy more LOL!). Its pretty embellishment free at the mo - going to look for some new Christmas embellies near the time, so they will be added then.

I love this cat - he looks like he has just got the cream. Strangely I didn't make any cards with him on last year. Again he is coloured in distress inks and all the papers are from my scraps and left over Christmas paper. I added stickles to the berries on the image and the paper, and stamped a gold scroll onto 2 corners. Of the two I do prefer this one.

Sketch Saturday

This is just a quick post - we are back from my parents, girless :)! We've had a great weekend, seeing 2 lots of friends and playing in the remains of the snow. I managed to find time to make this card using ther Sketch Saturday sketch this week. I just have to do the unpacking and sorting out now.

I do make quite a few Easter cards, and I am loving this image for the non-religious ones (I have to make religious ones for my mum). I have used spring colours for the papers and watercoloured the image. I have used the knot in the ribbon for the circle on the sketch. I worte the sentiment myself - need to practise the handwriting LOL!

I will be blog hopping like mad tomorrow catching up with everyone.

Tulips from Amsterdam

We are all at my parents' for the weekend and the girls are enjoying the last of the snow (sadly we had hardly any snow at home), so I have managed to fit a little crafting in. I combined this week's CCT theme, Music and Dance, with the Friday Sketcher sketch. I have to admit I have fliped and rotated the sketch to get the elements to work together. I really struggled for the CCT bit as I have Penny Black's Ode to Joy ... but at home not here!! I had brought this image up with me to start making some Easter cards, and finally the penny dropped - Tulips from Amsterdam!

I watercolourd the image and used my nesties to cut it out. The papers are all from a scrapbook kit I bought, and the ribbons from my stash. I really didn't want to add flowers so I used brads instead. I am still in the 'not too many embellies' mood. For the sentiment I wrote the title of the song.

Hubby andI met up with a fab friend and her partner for a meal last night - she is a brilliant cook, and we had a great evening! I was very good and left most of her craft stuff alone!!

Well I am off to trudge in the final traces of snow with the girls before it gets too cold again. I will be back online hopefully later to do a bit of blog hopping.

LOTV sketch

Mum have made this for my Mum to give to my gran for her birthday. I love these papers, i got them to scrapbook with, but decided they would be better for cards. As Mum doesn't like fussy cards with lots of embellishments I thought this paper would be perfect, and it works really well with the LOTV sketch this week.
Gran has a March birthday and loves cats so this image is just perfect for her I watercoloured it and matted it onto cardstock. I cut a band of co-ordinating paper and added some organza ribbon. I stamped the daisy scroll in distress ink. The sentiment is left blank as Mum isn't sure what she wants yet ... so that'll be a handwritten one!

ABC Challenge - A is for ...

Wow I can't believe we are back round to A, so we are celebrating ...

A is for Anniversary

I have made a teardrop card, which opens like a concertina. The image is Penny Black and has been coloured in distress inks and cut out (carefully round the tail LOL!!) and matted onto paper that has been embossed using my Swiss Dots folder. I ran a large peice of green through my Divine Swirls folder and Swiss Dots folder and them embossed 2 lines using my score board. I added ribbon that ties the card together, cut some swirls and added a couple of these gorgeous Prima Hydrangea flowers.

Why don't you pop over to the other DT blogs to see what they have done, and have a go at this week's challenge yourself.

Stamps: Penny Black Lovely Bubbly

Colouring media: Distress inks - most of them!!

Papers: DCWV Christmas scrap stack 2007 , embossed using CB folders, Swiss Dotts, Divine Swirls

Just a quickie

I started this card at silly o'clock this morning and it has taken most of the day to finish it! The image was already coloured in so I followed this week's Papertake Weekly Challenge sketch by Dawny. I and still on the 'use it up' drive so the papers are a mish-mash and the ribbon is a scrap I had left.I made the corners on the image using a yellow ink pad. I have chosen fresh spring colours as it will probably be an Easter card. I added the doodling as that is this week's Spoonfull of Sugar challenge. No flowers are embellies as not sure who it going to be for and I didn't want to detract from that lovely green dp.

Beth and Ellie are chilled out in front of the telly, thank God for Tinkerbell!!!!

Squeeze 'til I Squeak!

I have combined this weeks Sketch Saturday with PBSC's Romance theme. I am hoping this is the last lurve card I make for a while!!
Rather than go for the pink/red theme I chose to create more of a little scene. I coloured the distressed the ickle mice and cut them using my nesties. I always struggle to use this paper as I always end up hiding the interesting bits. So I have decoupaged the leaves and some of the flowers to give the impression of the mice hiding in the hedgerow. Did make 1 little mistake - sneezed as I was putting the image on the paper and ...its not straight!!

Crafty Weekend

This is going to be a bit of a long post!!
I have spent the weekend with a fab bunch of crafty friends ... not partners or children ... just crafting! I can't believe how many cards I have made, and it was bliss crafting without having little fingers or paws fiddling, pinching or otherwise intruding!
For the retreat I did a demo on distressing and paper beads and these are the cards I made, using Sugar Nellie's gorgeous Bird house stamp.

I don't know who the papers are but I love them and have bought up the craft shop's supply!! I coloured and distressed the background using my distress inks, and distressed the papers using my paper distresser - a much coveted tool!! I stamped scrolls on the cardstock and added ribbon and Prima Hydraegena flowers.

I used the same image for this, but gorgeous brown dp (again unknown). I demoed making the paper beads that i put on this card. I love these paper beads - so quick and easy to make and a different embellishment on a card. No flowers on this one ... yet. I am pondering a couple, but not sure yet. I love my PB Duckling stamp, and haven't inked it for a while. I thought I would start on some Easter cards and combine a few challenges in the process. So I made this circle card for the PBSC this week, which is circle cards. I used my scalloped nestie to cut the circle and crop-a-dile to punch the holes. I used yellow cardstock and DCWV Pocketful of Posies papers. The duckling is distressed, and the ribbons are from my stash. I have scanned the card with blue cardstock behind so you can see the card.

For this card I used this week's sketch from Sketch Saturday - I used ribbon as well as papers for some of the elements. Its that fab duckling again, with cardstock and this cute little flowers and adhesive gems.

I have had these fancy pants papers for a while, but thought they would work really well with this gorgeous image by PB - Lazy Days, I added co-ordinating ribbon, brads and buttons to complete it.
The last three cards feature animals so all three fit this week's Secret Crafter challenge ... animals.

I can't wait for the next retreat!!
