Katharina's Sketch 37

Katharina does the most fantastic sketches and I love having a go at them. With the launch tomorrow of her latest WOJ stamps she has this to say ...
I thought I would combine my preview with a sketch challenge for you and even offer the cute little mouse as a prize for one lucky crafter.
So here is the sketch
and my interpretations - yes I did 2 and am really surprised how different they are.

I used Willow and umbrella for this one, and Basic Grey's Urban Prairie papers. I coloured Willow in in Distress inks and inked the edges of all the papers in Making Memories celery ink. I did a bit of faux stitching, using a white gel pen for a change and added ribbon from my stash. I used ribbon for the bits coming out of the square (very technical!!) and stapled them on. I added some green and blue gems for a bit of bling.

For this one I coloured Melinda in with promarkers and cut her out using my nesties. The papers are making memories and have been distressed with Distress ink (Tattered rose). For the bits coming out of the square I used a scroll stamp and stamped round the flowered square in Tattered rose distress ink. It just about shows up on the picture. I added little scrolls to two opposite corners and to the opposing corners of the image. I finished it off with ribbon from my stash and Prima flowers, fixed with papermania brads.

If you fancy a go at the sketch and a chance to win the cute mouse, you have until the 4th January.

Melinda and charms

Charms is the challenge from A Spoonfull of Sugar this week. I decided to combine this challenge with the WOJ guest designer call, as Ellie is getting better so I thought I might have time to have a go at the designer card if I paced myself. I have used this sketch from Katharina...
and have come up with this ...
I have used Melinda reading her book and my favourite K and Co papers. Lots of faux stitching as I was having a 'fussy'moment and lace. The charm is from my stash, as is the little gem flower I put on the end of the book mark. The flowers are Prima. I really resisted the urge to use wire with this one! I slightly adapted the sketch to have a tag so I could hang the charm from it. Still trying to use up peel off so a peel off sentiment again.

Now for the embarrassing bit - I made this yesterday and late last night (it took hours as I kept getting interrupted by a sickly child!), and had no idea that the 1st WOJ challenge would be this sketch, or that Bev would use the same image and papers from the same pad - honest I haven't copied anyone!! My Mum will testify to this!
So I am also going to enter this into the WOJ challenge.

New Tildas!!

I love my hubby!! He has got me the Magnolia StampClub as a "I love you" pressie. I am partially suspicoius as he was educating me on what they call flowers, chocs etc in Germany when husbands buy them - something to do with dragons - hmmmm!

Anyway, it was a huge surprise when it dropped on the mat this morning!! The girls went to Tumble Tots and while Ellie was doing her 'stuff' (her words not mine!!) I eazi mounted them all and then inked them up when I got home. They are fab!

So I have put the girls to bed early and had a play.

I have used Katharina's fabulous sketch from this week's Papertake Weekly Challenge with this fab stamp. I coloured her using my Aqua Promarkers and matted her onto K and Co papers. The lace is from my stash and the flowers are primas. I love this layout as it isn't too fussy and lets the image really stand out.

This is the card I am going to send to my Mum and Dad for Harvest. I love this Tilda, but not sure what flowers she is holding, so i have given her sedum as mine is blooming in the garden. Edwin is holding some veg ... I think! I have again used K and Co papers, and the images are watercoloured using water pencils. I added faux stitching, ric-rac, copper wire (I am getting the hang of it more now!) and some Prima flowers.

Whiff of Joy

I have finally got round to putting my Whiff of Joy creations on my blog. I love Melinda reading her book, and thought she would work really well with my Sugar Nellie Penpal image.
I have made this card for a very creative friend who loves to read and write letters, poems, short stories, shopping lists!!
I have watercoloured the images and then used a selection of papers from my scraps tray and some ric-rac.

I confess I didn't ink up Melinda's wings for this one!

For this one I had a play with my new Pro markers, and really like the results.

I have used Making Memories papers and added ric rac, lace and wire. The image is rasied up using foam pads. I used the basic elements from one of katharina's sketches. I was going to use flowers for the circle element, but I haven't got any flowers that work with these papers - they look too fussy.

I love this image, a really good image for a boy, and Ellie has lots of boy friends at pre-school.
I love these K and Co Hopscotch papers and think they work really well for boys cards.

I used my Pro markers to colour Oakley and followed one of Katharina's sketches. The papers are English Company I think and I think looking at it now, I am going to add some brads and a peel of just to lift it a bit.

I have never been a big fan of felt pens (something to do with being a teacher I think and kids never colouring well with them. Oh and all the marks on the table that I had to clean so the caretaker wouldn't grumble!!), but I am loving my Pro markers. I just need to practise using them to blend, what a chore, colouring images in!LOL
Off to take Ellie to pre-school and brave the rain. Its a yuck day again here. Hope its better where you are.

ABC challenge... E is for

The ABC challenge is to use embellishments on you card.
I have used this gorgeous Sugar Nellie stamp and matted her onto K and Co papers. The lace has been 'antiqued' in the teapot, and some ric rac added. The flowers are prima and the brads from my stash.
I used a sketch from Katharina as it was such a fab sketch to work with.
Hope you like, and please have a go at the challenge.

Reflective Sugar Nellie

I love this Sugar Nellie, she is so calm and placid, unlike the Gremlins I live with!!! I have decided to have another go at katharina's sketch (see a couple of posts below) with her. I have used a selection of K& Co and Making Memories papers, which I have inked on the edges. The lace and braid are from my stash. I left the lace in a pot of tea for a couple of minutes to get a more antique effect on it. I added a prima flower, which looks really bright having been scanned, but it is the same colour as the dark part of the roses. Sadly I have cut of the edge of the card - oops!!
I don't normally use up my antiquey, floral papers, but I quite like hte result of this one. Ellie will be sad - less crafting stuff for her!!

Thanks for looking,

One of Katharina's sketches and Sugar Nellie

On her blog Katharina says:
I want to give you all the chance to be a part of Whiff of Joy. That's why I will take a Guest Designer every 2 months to join the team. And today I will start the first official Whiff of Joy Guest Designer call :) So here is what you have to do as a Guest Designer of Whiff of Joy:
Create a card or project or scrapbook page with every stamp I'll send you
post these on your blog and upload it to the Whiff of Joy gallery (it will be accessible together with the online shop)
If you are a quite active blogger and love to participate in challenges this might be another plus :)

So all you have to do is follow her sketch and link it back to her blog.
I watercoloured Sugar Nellie's Sweet N Sassy and matted her onto pink cardstock. The papers are from Making Memories, and I have inked the edges with rose pink ink. The flower is also Making Memories. I have used lace from my stash.

Sweet Ebonies and sketches

I have had another go at one of Katharina's sketches. I tried it out earlier in the week but felt the image was a little small, so I have used this Sweet Ebony image, Picking Apples.

The papers are by Roam by K and Ko. I have used Prima flowers attached with a brad.

Katharina has set up a YAOB (Your Artwork on her blog) and is featuring one person's artwork each week that uses one of her sketchs. If you use a Sugar Nellie then you are in with a chance of getting a Sugar Nellie stamp if your work is chosen.

This is for the Friday Sketchers sketch this week. The image is Sweet Ebony's Flower. I have used a selection of K and Co papers and chosen yellow as the theme. I had slight accident involving a cup of tea, but I think I have recovered it!!

The flowers are Making Memories and the scrolls are peel offs. I haven't added any text yet, as I am not sure what I am going to use it for.

Katharina's sketches

I love using Katharina's sketches, and this week I get the chance to use two!
The Papertake weekly challenge is a sketch by Katharina.

Its a simple sketch that looks really effective. I loved the opportunity to use all the gorgeous papers I have that I often don't use as I feel they get lost behind images (I just sit and stroke them!LOL).

The papers are all K and Co. I love the rose pattern, but it doesn't look right with many of my cute images. It sits perfectly on this green paper.
I added pastel blue ribbon to the pink card (it is double sided K and Co) to highlight the blue in the roses.
I don't often put sentiments on my cards, and rarely use peel offs, but this silver peel off looks just right on this paper.
The flowers are Making Memories and I have added gems to the centre for a little sparkle.

This sketch I found on Katharina's blog - she has used a lovely island girl as her image. I have chosen Maggie as I am using up my stamped images before I start stamping again!
The papers are K and Co again, and some cardstock from my stash.
I think the image is a little small for the sketch so the proportions aren't perfect, but I love the backing paper, so you get to more of that!I have used peel offs again -just because they were out.

Katharina will be choosing 1 card on Sunday to feature on her website. Sugar Nellies Blog are also offering a lovely stamp if your card is chosen.

Hope you like,
Hugs
