Happy Easter

This week's Spoonfull of Sugar is Easter ... and I am in the process of making quite a few of these cards!! Becky is their guest designer so do have a look at her card, its fab! And as I seem to have less time to craft (thanks Beth for a return to the Snowman obsession this morning!) I have used Dawny's sketch over at Papertake Weekly Challenge. I have rotated it through 90 degrees.
I have to thank Pauline for these images - I am trying to get hold of this stamp as I love the image. I coloured it in distress inks and then inked the edge up in dusky plum ink. The green cardstock is also inked up. I love these bright papers and to help them stand out I matted them onto pink cardstock. I added a couple of chipboard photo anchors coloured in gold promarker and a gold peel off sentiment. As the card is an order from my mum no ribbon or flowers :(.

Recipe:
Stamp(s): Penny Black
Colouring Media: Distresss ink; color box; promarker
Papers: Doodlebug; cardstock
Embellishments: Woodware chipboard photo anchors

ABC challenge G is for ...

This week's ABC challenge is G is for Gift. I decided not to make a gift but to use this gorgeous PB stamp called Much Gifted. I just love the duck sat on all those gifts! I have made this card for a bloke, so no flowers or lots of embellishments.
I used K and Co's Hopscotch papers and cut a check band instead of using a ribbon. I attached the image using brads and added a peel off sentiment and some gold swirls just to finish it off. Having gained the courage to wire after seeing it used on my SBS sister Becky's blog, I have had a go - not too bad for a first attempt, but I still need a bit of practise!

If you have time, why not have a go at the challenge.

Stars and Stripes

The challenge over at Penny Black Saturday Challenge this week is to use stars and stripes. I couldn't resist using this gorgeous little hedgy kindly stamped for me by Vicky.
I decided to go fro a green and blue theme so I have used Making Memories papers. I love those stripes and checks. I added Papermania stars to it as die cut larger ones seemed a bit out of place and too much. I have kept it quite simple as it is a gorgeous image and the person it is for is quite reserved!

Samantha's challenge

A friend has set a group of us a challenge to creat a card using some bits and pieces she posted to us. I think we all had an 'EEK' moment when the envelope arrived!
In the envelope there was the flower images, the butterfly image, the tag, the swiss dots embossing, the silver brad and a peach flower (now sadly crumpled and chewed by a teething nearly twoyear old!).
I used the papertake weekly challenge sketch this week as my layout. I coloured and cut out the images and matted them onto to some K and Co cardstock. The butterfly is mounted using foam pads to add a bit of depth. I used DCWV matt atack and English Comany papers for the backing papers and added a green prima flower to replace the peach one. Wire is my latest craft purchase so I have put some of that on.

B is for Baby

This week's ABC challenge is B for Baby, so you need to make a project with a baby in mind. I have used Basic Grey's two scoops papers and Penny Black's Baby Hammock stamp, which I have watercoloured. The backing paper is embossed and I have used organza ribbon from my stash, a Making Memories flower, and a peel off.

Why don't you check out the design team's creations and have a go yourself.

baby card

The challenge this week from Cute Card Thursday is to make a card using no commercial backing papers. You have to create your own.

I have used my Cuttlebug embossing folders to pattern these papers, using the Swiss Dots and D'vine Scrolls folders. The cardstock in pastel blue and yellow is from Papermania. The organza yellow ribbon is from stash, as are the three yellow ducks. The image is, of course, Penny Black, which I have watercoloured and matted off centre onto the yellow. I have used a simple silver peel off for the greeting.

Thanks for looking,

Papertake weekly challenge

This is my entry for Katharina's sketch on the Papertake weekly Challenge blog.

The image is Penny Black's The Three Meows.

I have layered and matted various papers. I have to say it not a colour scheme I would naturally choose, but it seems to suit this stamp really well. I also can't make my mind up whether I need a bit of omphh in the colour now I've done it.

What do you think?

Papertake Weekly Challenge

This week's challenge theme is "Elegant Embossing".

I have gone for a minimalist theme with just a few colours and simple matting.

The embossing folder is Provocraft's Allegro and I have matted it onto black cardstock. The image is Penny Black's Ode to Joy, which I have watercoloured and matted onto black cardstock. I added chrome brads to the corner. The black glitter paper is from DCVW's Glitter matt Stack. I added that for a bit of glitz and sparkle.

Hopefully the result is a stylish, simple card.

Ode to Joy!

My mum loves this stamp so much, she has asked me to make 16 postcards for the children she works with (she plays the piano for them). I have finally finished them this morning - however there are only 14 as my beautiful younger monster "helped" me by scribbling all over 2 of them!! So back to the stamping for me later.

But here are four of them.

The stamp is Penny Black's Ode to Joy and I have watercoloured it, mounted on black card and then hammered white card cut to postcard size.
Some have been mounted straight, others at an angle - I couldn't decide which I liked best.

I hope the children like them

Papertake Weekly Challenge

I have been looking at the sketches for a while, but have never been brave enough to post one so today I thought I would have a go. The 1st card I made is at the bottom of this post and the one for the challenge is the 1st one - if you see what I mean!!

This is my challenge card:

I have used Tilda (ther's a surprise!!) and matted her onto lilac cardstock. I put tiny Papermania lilac flower gems in each corner. I used Papermania papers for the backing paper and the lilac and a complementing purple for the layered rectangles.

The sentiment is a Fun stamp and the ribbons are sticky ones.

This is the best of the layouts and the one I am happiest with - I do need to practise this sketch more - but I do like the visual effect.

I had a go using a Penny Black stamp (The three Meows) and a colour scheme I rarely use - red and orange.

The backing paper is from Papermania's earth tones set and the rest is cardstock in orange and red.

I have used orange/yellow ric rac ribbon and a red sticky ribbon.

The sentiment is a Penny Black one.

I am quite pleased with the colour scheme but think I need to practise the layout a bit more - it doesn't quite work.

This was my 1st attempt - I didn't measure my card carefully so I have a gap between the ribbons and the rectangles. I like the colour effect and the stamp - smudged the bottom though!
I added the dragonfly gems as it looked a bite bare - still not doing much for me!!

Let me know what you think!
