Dark Royalty

A friend came round to craft this morning, as I hadn't got any children so no Mums and Tots. While she stamped up nearly every stamp I own (and I own a fair few!!) I had a go at colouring this Sweet Pea Stamp in. They are growing on me, and I might be adding to my collection of 2!
I made the card up this afternoon for these challenges:

I coloured this mermaid with my pens. I chose these papers as they remind me of the colours of the sea, and some look a little like anemones. In real life she is not quite as pale ... the light is weird here today. I added bows to the ribbons, and a button. I used papermania shimmer dots to make the swirls ... they are fab, clear domes with glitter in them. I thought they looked like sparkly bubbles. I made the tag and stamped Happy Birthday on it, it pulls out.

Pink and brown meeces

Its cold here ... our boiler decided to pack up on Thursday night and it won't be looked at until tomorrow. Fortunately we have a couple of heaters so we are managing to keep warm, and we went swimming today so e could have a shower and wash the girls' hair. Hopefully they will be back at school tomorrow.
I managed to get a couple of cards made last night ...

Both cards have chocolate in them so I am entering them into the Simon Says Stamp challegne which is hot chocolate and Quixotic Challenges which is hot chocolate. And as the colour combo in both is pink, brwon, chocolate and toffee I am entering them into the Charisma Cardz challenge.

The first card also uses my new stamp and new ink pad so I am entering it into Cute Card Thursday's all new challenge.
I have watercoloured the image and then distressed the edges using my new colorbox pink set (thanks Wendy!) Just a band of pink ribbon as this is such a big image.

I followed the Trully Scrumptious sketch and used my new ink pad to distress.
Again the image is watercoloured ... I confess to removing the other icke meece as the iamge wouldn't fit my nesties! I matted the image and dp onto brown cardstock. Flowers and a sentiment to complete it.
I am still on my 'lets keep things clean and simple' resolution ... .got a feeling the next card won't fit that as it will involve paper pleating!!!

Maddy's card

One of my friend's had a baby earlier this week, Madeline Jean, and I have made this card for the happy parents.
I used the sketch from Trully Scrumptious (and 3 stamps), and as it has a hidden message I am entering into this week's Cute Card Thursday. The flowers mean that it also fits Charisma Cardz Flower Power theme, and the lace and pearls fit Penny Black Saturday Challenge.

I used three of my large flowers from Poppicrafts (I so miss their flowers!) and layered them on to a circle cut from the dp. I followed the sketch, just skewing some of the dp slightly. I added some smaller flowers and put pearls at their centres, and used both vcotton and raffia lace. The Tim Holtz ticket is attached by a brad so it moves, and stapled to the circle.
I love using this cute baby hedgie for baby cards. I watercoloured her and cut her out. The flower circle moves to cover the sleeping hedgie.
I stamped the sentiment on the inside and added the cute mices, again watercoloured. I can't wait to see Maddy, hopefully mum and baby are out of hospital today.

Purple Manga girl

What a morning - I had to drop the car off for a service, do some shopping and the ironing. Managed to get this card finished that I started last night before hubby arrived home and wanted conversation!!!
I have used the sketch from Trully Scrumptious and this week's Stamp with Fun theme, Birthdays.

I've made this for a friend's daughter's birthday (she's leaving her teens!0. The image is coloured using my promarkers and I cut her out. I inked the edges of the cardstock and dp. I added ribbon and tied two ribbon knots ... definitely no flowers for this girly!!

I am going to initiate myself to afternoon daytime telly later - hopefully it won't be too painful!!Recipe:

Simon Says ...Distress!!!

The Simon Says challenge this week is distressing - oh and do I love to distress things!! I made this card last night having been trapped inside with a 2 year old, 2 4 year olds and a 7 year old for the day ... the distressing certainly helped de-stress me!!
I watercoloured my image and then used the cracked glass technique on it (tutorial on my sidebar). I went to town on the papers, ripping the edges and inking them up. I distressed my flowers and spritzed them with glimmer mist and added some raffia.


Finally I stamped a scroll in each corner using dusty concorde ink and then brushed green patina perfect pearls over it, spritzed it with water and dried it - sadly the photo doesn't do justice to the shine. (I have a tutorial on this technique - its on my sidebar)I used the sketch from Trully Scrumptious - it is upside down as I cut my papers without thinking!
Hopefully it will be less wet today so I can get the children out and running about.

More cards!!

It looks like I haev made lots of cards today ... but in fact only these two were made today - the rest posted today were made last night or before!!
The first card is for the Papertake Weekly and Truly Scrumptious challenges. I hardly ever use downloaded paper even though a fair amount of our hard drive is 'cluttered' with it!!! So i have used downloaded paper for this sketch.
I coloured Tilda in watercolours and distressed the background. I matted her onto some of the dp, and matted the patterned dp as well. I punched flowers and added gems to their centres, and cut a triangle for the photo corner 9a bit lazy there!! I was thinking about adding ribbon, but actually like it like this so I left it at that.

My second card is for the WOJ challenge which is another card by Heather ... I am not sure about thisone ... but hubby and Ellie say its great, so who am I to think hmmmm?!

I coloured Willow with a mix of promarkers and my new copics and then cut her out using my nesties. I layered the backgrounds at an angle to mirror the angles matt behind the image. I used ribbon and brads for the detail on the middle band and punched the scalloped edge using my fiskars threading water punch. I added a copule of swirl stamps and some flowers and a swirl.
Still not sure about this one!!

Flower Power

I have made a card for 2 challenges I dont normally do, but as we are on holiday I have the time to take part in more challenges. I have used the Stamptacular Sunday theme "This is for the birds", and the Truly Scrumptious sketch and theme Flower Power.

making cards with limited stash has proved quite challenging - particularly on the ribbon front!!

I watercoloured my duckling and cut it and the layered ovals out using my nesties. I have kept it quite simple, just adding lots of punched flowers and some ribbon. I haven't stamped a sentiment as I am not sure who will be getting this! I love these bright papers and that green gingham is strokable!!
