WOJ challenge 3

This week's Whiff of Joy challenge is a sketch. I was planning to use my new WOJ that arrived this morning to do it, but as I already had Melinda stamped up from another project (see post below if you are interested) I have used her.I used my Aqua Promarkers to colour her and K and Co papers. The cardstock is from Papermania and it is pearlised with gold colouring running through it. I was a bit worried that it might be too dark, but it seems to have worked. The flowers are prima and the lace and brads are from my stash. I used a new marker from the faux stitching and am not overly happy with the result so I will be digging out my old one again.

Book mark and card

One of my oldest (as in length of time I have known her, just in case she gets offended) is a bit under the weather at the moment, but has still managed to look after and keep younger Gremlin entertained this morning while I was help[ing out at older Gremlin's pre-school.
So as a big thank you and to cheer her up I have made her this card. I have combined 2 Elisabeth Bell stamps, Sugar Nellie's Penpal, and Whiff of Joy's Melinda reading a book, for this project, as they do seem to go so well together.

Having watercoloured the image I inked the edges with olive green ink (and kept sneezing so its a bit rough and ready!). I used Basic Grey papers and scalloped the edges of backing papers using my nesties. I just used Prima flowers and little green and pink gems to embellish the card.

For the book mark I used the same papers, scalloping and gems. I added pink ribbon fastens with brads to finish it off.

I made a pocket inside the card to put the book mark in using co-ordingating papers (should have taken a pic of that - oops!)
I am really pleased with the finished results - and Christine loved it. Oh and Beth tried to remove bits of it!!

ABC challenge ... L is for...

Lace

This week's ABC challenge is Lace - you can interpret it how you want as long as the lace element is clear.
I love lace and so many of my cards feature it so it wasn't much of a challenge. So my challenge was to go chintzy (Thanks Vicky and Hubby) and I think I have - well as far chintzy as my comfort zone will take me!!







I have watercoloured this gorgeous PB and used my nesties to cut the scalloped oval. The dp is Basic Grey and the olive green cardstock is a new one from the Paper Mill shop - it has a shimmer and brown vein to it. I thought I would cheat and get out the sewing machine as it would be quicker - how wrong was I?!! I sew loads of clothes for the kids and hubby for his 17th Century hobby, and yet can't put a piece of card through and keep it in a straight line!!

Anyway I machine stitched the different papers and added lace, pink gems and prima flowers from my stash.

Dancing Maggie

One of the Gremlin's friends from Mum's and Tots is 1 next week so I thought I'd get ahead and make her card today. She is a gorgeous little girl, very petite and lucky to be with us. I have tied it in with 3 challenges as I don't seem to have much time for crafting at the mo, and the challenges gave the ideas for the card. Firstly as it is a 1st birthday card it qualifies for the Papertake Weekly Challenge this week. It is in green and pink so that covers the Spoonfull of Sugar challegne and finally the sketch I have used comes from the new Lili of the Valley challenge blog. I have kept the card quite simple as it is for a 1 year old - but lots to fiddle with, chew and remove, but nothing that will choke them!
I have watercoloured this gorgeous Sugar Nellie Maggie using pencils. The papers are Papermania's Retro Flowers and from my stash, and I embossed the pink cardstock using a cuttlebug folder (forgotten the name). I love the pink fibre fringing so I used 2 lots!! I got it off the market really cheap! The flowers aare (of course) Prima and I have added gems to the centres of them and to some of the centres of the embossed flowers.
I don't usually put sentiments on my cards, so I have put a tag on secure by a brad and flower. One of my friends is great at calligraphy so she has promised to write the sentiment on for me - we think it will be "Look who's 1 today" - very original! Hopefully the tag is big enough!

Embrace! 3 challenges in 1

I love this little Penny Black elephant. I have watercoloured him and cut him out using my Fiskars cutter and circle template. I have used Basic Grey's Two Scoops papers and pink cardstock. I find some of these papers quite hard to use as they are a bit dark/pink for me!! I have followed this week's sketch on the Penny Black Saturday club for the layout - I think the image might just be a bit big for the sketch! I added some prima flowers to finish the sketch off. The scallop edges and the papers qualifies it for the Basic Grey challenge this week, and as I have used a wild (?!) animal it also qualifies for this week's Dutch Dare challenge.

Wow 3 challenges in 1, been a while since I have managed that!!!

Christmas Friday Sketcher

Another quick post - we are in the process of packing to come home the internet connection is up and down like I don't know what.
I have used this gorgeous Sugar Nellie Father Christmas and a selection of DCWV scrap papers for the card. The ribons are from my stash (all the left over bits!). Metallic brads are papermania and the flowers Prima. Had to do a bit of wire on it. I did try to fold two corners down, but I was being distracted by small children so didn't work quite as well as I would like, so hid them with the flowers!

I have been a bad blogger this week due to the internet and the holiday- thank you so much to all of you that have left lovely comments on my blog. I will get round to all of you over the next couple of days.
(Can't wait to get back to all my stash!!!)

Christmas Cute Card Thursday

This week's CCT challenge is to use animals on Christmas cards. I love this little hedgy and it is a fab stamp to colour. The image is coloured in waterolour pencils and I have used papers from my stash, ric rac, wire and prima flowers.

Hot chocolate for Autumn

It is very autumnal here today (windy, the leaves are falling, and its raining!). So I have used the view from the window of trees and the fells to inspire me. The Whiff of Joy challenge is to use stitching, and I love a bit on stitching, and the My Time to Craft challenge is to use leaves.

I have used this gorgeous image - imagine drinking hot chocolate on a breezy, wet autumn day- scrummy! I have picked colours and textures that remind me of autumn. I used Basic Grey papers and card from my stash, and I distressed the edge of the image with brown ink. Plenty of faux stitching on the papers and the Magnolia leaves even have stitching on them. Finally I added some lace, prima flowers and copper wire loosely coiled to give the impression of swirling leaves.

Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow so we can go out somewhere.

Spoonfull of Sugar sketch

Its a sketch again for this week's Spoonfull of Sugar challenge, and I love sketches. I have rotated the sketch or this challenge to accomodate the image I want to use. My Sugar Nellie snowmen have been calling out to be played with, so here is another Christmas card.

I watercoloured the image in and matted it onto red cardstock. Having seen Samantha at Penrith Crafts emboss acetate I decided to have a go myself. I made the card from red cardstock and scalloped the left side. I attached a piece of acetate to the underside of the scalloped edge, and then added anoither piece of acetate that I embossed using my Swiss Dots folder. I would have liked to use just 1 piece of acetate but it was too large to go through the cuttlebug.

I added red and green ric rac to the top and bottom, and a piece of scallop edge red cardstock. Prima flowers and red and green wire finish it off. I added a piece of white cardstock to the back to make the card, and used this gorgeous green Bunny Bo spotty ribbon to hide the join on the inside of the card.

As it also has red on it I am going to enter it into this week's Artygirlz challenge.

I am really pleased with this - I love the embossed acetate, and will definitely have a go at this again. So my Mum and dad's Christmas card is made!
