Clara and Edgar from Visible image

Today I am showing you the gorgeous Clara and Edgar from Visible Image Stamps.

I adore this steampunk couple, and having masked Clara and stamped Edgar next to her, I coloured them in with my pens.  The dp is Bo Bunny, and I distressed and stitched it.  The postcard is a LOTV stamp, and I stamped it onto kraft cardstock before distressing it.  I added lace and a ribbon and bow - not that it shows much after all the embellishments!!  I have a slight obsession with frantage, so the button and Hobbycutz lasercut fancy flourish have been frantaged in aged wine.  Finally a couple of Hobbycutz steampunk gears and some flowers and pearls, oh and stickles at the couple's feet.

Colouring Clara from Visible image 2

I am absolutely in love with Clara, the latest character stamp from Visible Image Stamps.

How gorgeous is she, all sassy and steampunky :)

We were having a conversation in the DT group about coluring her and I offered to do a tutorial to show how I coloured her hat, as larger white spaces can be scary.  Since I was doing the hat, I also did photos for how I colourd all of her so over the next few days I am going to share with you how I coloured Clara. I am no expert by the way!!

I like to colour from darkest to lightest, its personal preference, but I find I get a better effect this way.  My preferred cardstock is Diamond White from the Paperterie, and for my stamped images I use 300msg.

The first thing I do is decide where the light source is coming from, and I usually either go for top left or right as I find this easiest. 
So for this image the light is coming from the top left hand corner as I look at it.

OK for the coat I used aubergine, plum and amethyst promarkers.

Starting with the aubergine I coloured in a section of the top of the coat that would be in the darkest shade.

Then I went over the aubergine and into the white space with the plum.

Then I went back in with the aubergine and darkened up the shaded area more.

 Next I went over the coloured area and into the white space using plum.

Finally I went over all the coloured area and the white space with amethyst.  I needed to work the amethyst into the plum quite well to make sure it was blended properly.

 Having done the top of thecoat I coloured the tiered bottom of it.  I like to work in small sections, the ink stays wetter and blends better I think.

I repeated the process - starting with the aubergine and going into the darkest parts of the band.

Then going over the aubergine and into the white space with the plum.

Then I reapplied the aubergine in the darkest parts ...

 

before adding more plum.

Finally I blended it all together using the amethyst.

 I coloured Clara in using my pens and then stamped the grunge flourish round her in Victorian velvet and faded jeans distress inks, before adding stickles to her feet.  The dp is from a couple of MME packs, I can't remember which as I have had them a while and lost the covers!  Anyways I stitched round it using my machine.  I added lace layered with ribbon and a bow and some pearls.  Finally I stamped the sentiment using the More than Words sets from Visible Image, and added pearls to it.

Ivory butterfly

 I used this beautiful lasercut butterfly from Hobbycutz and frantaged it using aged ivory frantage powder, beofre adding a pearl to its centre.  The cardstock is SU ccrumb cake and Core-dinations Vintage collection.  I embossed the coredinations cardstock using a flower folder and sanded it.  I added a banner cut using my fishtail stax die set, and added a couple of flower buttons with twine tied through them.

I coloured Tobey in using my pens. The dp is MME and I matted it onto navy cardstock.  I simply added some card candy and a sentiment - liking the more un-cluttered look at the moment!

Visible Image DT sample - Edgar

 Today I am showing you Edgar from Visible Image Stamps.

I was dared by fellow Visible image Teamie Sue to "pimp" Edgar up and do Cadbury's chocolate purple leopard print!!!  This is what i came up with!!  I teamed it up with snakeskin trousers!  Having coloured the image I used the splots from the Free Your Imagination set to create the background round Edgar.  I used the Grunge Check background to create the background - this is a fab stamp as it is really easy to line it up to repeat the pattern perfectly.  Finally I stamped the Live Your Dreams  sentiment and matted it onto black cardstock.

Oh and I have very exciting news - Edgar has a lady friend ...

I coloured Catwalk in using my pens.    I went for a shabby chic/vintage look with her as her dress is quite 1950s vintage.  I added muslin, lace and pearl string, and frantaged lasercut embellishments, before adding the sentiment.

Visible Image butterfly

 Today I am showing you the large butterfly stamp from Visible Image Stamps.

I wanted to create a soft, unfussy vintage card and the Large Butterfly is perfect for this.  I stamped the butterfly onto blue cardstock and cut it out.  I simply embossed the crumb cake cardstock, and added a panel of patterned paper.  After adding lace, I added the floral oval, some pearls and the butterfly.

Basic Grey Challenge

Its time for another Basic Grey challenge and the theme this time is masculine.

I used Edgar from Visible image and coloured him with my pens.  I created the leopard skin print myself having been dared to do so by Sue from the Visible image DT!  Having coloured him I struggled a bit thinking of papers, but I remembered this forgotten pad of Basic Grey I have - Granola!!  Perfect pattern to co-ordinate with the image!  I added die cut banners and buttons that I coloured using my raw seinna promarker, and then some twine.
