Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge week 41

This week's challenge is set by Gina and it is spots and stripes.
I've used my new Gorguss girl and Bitersweet papers. The image is coloured using promarkers and I matted it using my nesties. I cut the corners using my nesties too (so much neater than my cutting!). The flowers and swirl are punched and I added flat backed pearls to finish.

Friday Sketcher

Its another fab sketch over at Friday Sketchers and here's my take on it.
I coloured my image using copics - need more practise with these - am finding promarkers easier to blend! I inked the cardstock in purple ink and kept the sketch simple as the dp is very busy. Instead of flowers i used ribbon knots each side of the image.

Sketch and Stash Challenge #10

Becky has done another fantastic sketch for us to work with, and again you can add your embellishments and sentiment where you like. I have kept my card quite simple and used some of my recently refound Papermania Retro Flowers papers. I rotated the sketch .

I water coloured the image and then coloured all the yellow dots in the pink paper brown (don't ask why, it felt like a good idea at the time!!!) I added brown organza ribbin and pink satin ribbon, and then matted it onto the dp, with the repaeated patern of ribbon. I used pink lace ribbon at the top of the sketch. Embellies looked too fussy so I left it as it was, and no sentiment.

Pink!!!

Well the girls have infected me with their colds and I feel lousy!! They went off to pre-school this morning so I had a chance to have a play in my craft room and came up with this card.

It combines three challenges, the Papertake Weekly sketch, A spoonfull of Sugar challenge Touchy Feely, and the Creative Card Crew challenge Embossing.

I watercoloured my image and stamped the sentiment. I have matted it onto coredniations cardstock and embossed a CB flower folder in the corner. I embossed more Coredinations cardstock using my Swiss Dots folder and sanded it a bit, before matting it. I added velvet pink ribbon and some punched flowers and flat backed pearls. I love the dp, MME Laundry Line. The flowers are glittered which adds more texture.

The only thing wrong with this card in my eyes .... its PINK!!

Ellie has a friend who will be four next week so I have made her this birthday card (and yes it is pink!!).

I used my latest Gorguss girls - I love this one's attitude (definitely my two at the mo!!) I coloured her in in distress inks and then inked the edges. I haven't used these papers for ages, but they are perfect for a little girl. I combined them with yellow cardstock and ribbon. I punched the flowers from the same dp and added yellow brads to their centres. I stamped the sentiment and added a couple more brads.

Sketch and Stash #9

Becky has done another fabulous sketch this week, and you can put your embellishments and sentiment wherever you want.

I have to confess having had 2 goes at this., as I did the first and was a little unsure about it...but hubby loves it.

I used this Pollycraft image Daydreamer and the sentiment from the same range, which are new to my collection. I coloured her in promarkers and matted her onto green cardstock, using my nestie labels to cut her and the matt out. The papers are from my very neglected DCWV adhesive stack. I punched the flowers using another neglected punch, added gems and some wire (again very neglected!!). I am not sure what I am not keen on ... it could be the dp.

So I had another on Friday night when my Gorguss girls arrived ...

I am much happier with this. I have skewed the elements in the sketch for this one. I watercoloured the image and cut her out using my nesties. The matt is the same size and placed at an angle. The dp is MME Laundry line and is all shiny new and so strokable ... I am amazed I actually cut into it!! The sentiment is from my Swirls plate and saw its 1st inking. I added flowers, and the ickle charm which I won as part of Camilla's blog candy.

I am much much happier with this ... hubby still prefers the first one!!!

A few cards and Dies to Die for GDT

I thought that I would post some cards I have made that are not for challenges, but for commissions or just because I was playing!
Tracy over at Dies to Die For is looking for guest designers. I have just finished making this card for a friend's daughter who is dance mad ... oh and likes pink!
I have to confess that the stamp isn't mine ... its Ellie's, a birthday present from Vicky. Its Ballet Brielle by Whipper Snapper, and I have coloured it using my promarkers. I used Basic Grey Eva papers, and faux stitched them using a white gel pen. I added a Prima flower and flower charm, and used my cuttlebug tag to add the handwritten sentiment.

I really struggle using some of the Basic Grey Two Scoops papers - love them, just struggle matching them. So I have had a play with these papers and my new Leanne Ellis stamps from Sugar Nellie. I find that patterned dp really hard to work with, but think this looks OK. I coloured the image, Fizz, in with distress inks, and added small clear and pale green adhesive gems to the bubbles at the top. I added yellow organza ribbon and pink adhesive gems to the corners of some of the dp. Not sure what I will use it for, so no sentiment yet.

Finally, a few days ago I posted a card I was having difficulty finishing and got some great ideas back as to how I could finish it.

I tried scrolls and swirls stamps and didn't like the result, so I repeated the frame on the inside. I think it works, and thank you everyone for your help and ideas.
Off to play outside with the girls in a few minutes - just need to wake them up LOL!!

Gorguss Friday Sketcher

I love doing the Friday Sketchers challenge, and Mumur has created a gorguss sketch this week ... and I have already done it, thanks to Beth having OCD about the Snowman. She has to watch it all the time ... so Beth watches The Snowman, I craft - works for me!!

I inked up this fab Gorguss Girl, coloured her using ivory, aubergine (for the hair) Lilac and cornflower promarkers, and then cut her out. The papers are from a scrapbook kit I have had for ages and not used. I resisted the urge to distress the edges and have gone instead of clean lines and no fuss. I sat her hanging out of my label nesties - love the dangling feet! The bird was coloured in pigeon colours and put in a circle. I finished it off with some scrolls and swirls stamped in papermania ink. I can't believe I haven't added any ribbon or flowers ... need a lie down now !!

Sketch Saturday - a poignant one

I haven't made a card - I have made a centre piece for a scrap page I have been promising to make for a while now. Probably the closest friend I will ever have would have been 40 today ... but sadly she died in the manchester plane crash. The Gorguss girls stamps are so like her ... the hair and legs that go on for ever! She was a bit of a weird one, and I was so tempted to colour her hair green, as she loved playing with food colouring and her hair!! She was very much like a butterfly - always flitting from one thing to another.

I used the image with the bird and masked it off so I could put her on these steps. I watercoloured the image and distressed it. I added the butterfly but haven't coloured it. I resisted the urge to distress the papers - I wanted a faintly grungey look, but not too shabby, but did distress the flowers. I sanded the coredinations papers and added metallic eyelets. The sentiment is from a Take That song - couldn't stand them 1st time round, obviously I am mellowing! I distressed the tag and added a couple of butterflies.

The idea is to put some photos round it at angles ... just need to summon up the courage and get a box of tissues before doing the pictures thing!
We're off to Vicky's this afternoon to celebrate Edward's birthday - so I will be back tomorrow moring with the March Sugar Sugar project and my WOJ GDT card - well I won't be, hopefully the scheduled post will work!!

My foxy friend

I have managed to get a few minutes to myself today and made a simple card - I am really liking the less fussy look of this card, it makes the Gorjuss image stand out.

I coloured the image in using promarkers (I wanted to see how she looked in Promarkers) and matted her onto purple and black cardstock.I ran the purple and lilac cardstock through CB embossing folders and matted them onto black cardstock. I printed out the sentiment and mated that onto black cardstock. I decided to leave it embellishment free, except for the two brads. I followed Becky's sketch on My Time to Craft, and followed CCT and Charisma Cardz challenges theme, animals.

I'm off to rest my back for a bit, girls willing!! Hopefully I'll get a chance to do some more later.
