That Craft Place challenge

Its Sunday and that means it's time for a That Craft Place challenge and the theme this week is Indepence day or red, white and blue.  I went mad and made a couple of projects!!

Lisa sells the most amazing jumbo wooden pegs to alter.  I painte the peg with picket fence distress stain to add a whitewashed look, and then simply wrapped some spotty grosgrain ribbon round it.  I die cut large flowers out of navy blue paper and added my own crocheted flowers.   I tied a bow, added a wooden heart button and a flwer button with some embroidery thread tied through it.  Finally some more red button flowers.

Butterfly Butterfly

Today I thought I would show you a pretty card I made just for the fun of creating ...

Visible Image Blog Badge, Blinkie

I love making WOW cards, embossing and getting messy - and this card covers all 3!!!  I cut the card base and then embossed it using this butterfly border folder.  I then ran the card base through my sewing machine.  I made the flower using a Tim Holtz die (I am too lazy to score one myself!!) and assembled it (that's the messy part as I managed to get glossy accents everywhere!).  While the flower was drying I stamped the large butterfly from Visible Image stamps up and coloured it in using my promarkers and flex pens.  I cut it out, added pearls to its centre and then bent its wings to make it look like it was flying. Finally I stamped the butterfly sentiment.

For that special man ..

I thought I would have a play with my masculine stamps from Visible Image Stamps.

Visible Image Blog Badge, Blinkie

I used versafine onyx ink and white linen cardstock - the roughness of the cardstock creates an aging/distressed effect when you stamp.  I cut my card base and then stamped across it twice using the metal plate background stamp - it repeats perfectly.  I then scored a couple of lines before stamping the tyre marks across the bottom.  I added some ribbon in between the score lines.  I stamped the Men's Collage onto cardstock, cut it out and matted it onto black cardstock.  Finally I stamped the sentiment from the More than words sets and matted it onto black cardstock.

And for more inspiration don't forget to check out the Visible Image's facebook page, and the Visible Image blog where we have a monthly challenge.  This month's theme is Visible image has Character.

Today I am showing you some of the non character stamps from Visible Image Stamps.

Visible Image Blog Badge, Blinkie

A bit out of my comfort zone, but i had an idea and went playing!!  I stamped and then masked the Ink splat, and then stamped the grunge check background across the card base.  I left a wee gap and then stamped the retro dots background across the base of the card before adding the ribbon.  It turned out better than I expected :)

Visible Image DT card

Today I am showing you Molly from Visible Image Stamps.

Visible Image Blog Badge, Blinkie

I do love Molly, she reminds me of my younger daughter Beth, especially with the ripped off teddy's head!!  Icoloured her in using my pens and then cut her out.  I stamped the Brick wall background repeatedly over the cardstock in weathered wood distress ink.  Thes backgrounds from Visible image are brilliant as they are designed to repeat perfectly, so you can create large backgrounds from a reasonably sized stamp.  I then stamped the ink splats in black soot and raspberry distress ink, before stamped the Live your dream sentiment.  Finally I graffittied pinkster across a splat as that is what the lovely Sue calls me - and this is her birthday card :)
