Whats on your Workdesk ... bunting!!
Its that time of the week .. .the ritual snoop across the crafty blogs of blogland, led and guided by the amazing Julia. You know when you see something and think "I'm not paying that for that, I can make it for half the price!"? Well I had one of those moments ... And this frosty, cold Wednesday morning finds me clearing up my desk after making bunting ... yes you read that right ... bunting!!!
This was my desk last night after pilates and before a glass of wine ... See lots of bunting, made out of felt! We went to the German Market in Manchester before Christmas, just after having done the girls' room up and saw this gorgeous bunting ... but it was £25 for about 2 metres, way to expensive for what we would need to do. And that irriating voice in my head said ..."I could make that for half the price" Well its cost me £20 for 8 metres so alot cheaper really!! I ordered the felt Sunday morning from Sew Sweet and it was here Tuesday morning ... how quick is that, and its a lovely thickness and quality.
There is just rather alot of it to sew!! And it keeps wrapping round the machine and pins fall out, and the cat tries to sit on my knee!!!!! But it is now done and folded neatly ready for stage 2 ... decoration!! I am gonig to use the off cuts to make flowers and birds and butterflies using my dies and sew them on ...this could be quite a long term project LOL!!!

Very nice! I always feel a sense of accomplishment when I do it myself and not only save money but get the thrill of doing the project! Hope we get to see some of the finished panels. What great bunting, and if you can make it yourself, fantastic, such a saving.... I giggled at the idea of your cat sitting on your knee too!
Hiya hun, he he our Cat used to hide in my wadding, she used to scare o the life out of me and jump out : )
If you think its going to take to long to sew all the flowers etc on you could use a little bit of PVA glue, i use anitas (the one in the red bottle) its brilliant for felt, you only need to smear a tiny bit on though. Maybe stick some, sew some.

Bunting...it's really been growing in popularity the last few years, I love the idea of using felt, it should look awesome. Can't wait to see how you decorate it! Have you seen Jo firth's paper bunting from hearts...I think she was doing it as a favour for someone for a shop display, it looked amazing.
Hope your cat's tail doesn't get sewn in along the way!

Would love to see the bunting when it is finished. Using felt reminds me of the school pennants we use to buy and hang in our rooms. You don't see them much any more, or maybe I have just not been in the right places.
So nice of the cat to try to help out. After cat has picked up a few sewing tips could you send her my way? I have some mending to be done.
Great bunting and yes, I think we've all said, "Why I could make that for less!"
And I'm sure if the cat were to be interviewed he/she would think that it was their supervisory skills that made everything possible -- ha, ha. Have fun when you get to the decorating stage of your project!

It's good fun making bunting, isn't it?? Yours looks lovely and is MUCH better value than shop bought. Have fun disentangling the moggy from the string!
