Saturday's creations

What a busy week ... and no time for crafting! I have finally made a couple of cards this morning while hubby took the girls for their swimming lesson.
The first card is made using the following challenges:
Friday Sketchers - sketch
Just Magnolia - hearts and flowers
Stampavie and more - Love/valentine
Cute Card Thursday - flowers
Fuss and Fancy - hearts
Colour Create - soft pink, soft blue, silver and white
A Spoonfull of Sugar - freestyle

I coloured Valentine Tilda using copics and edged the image in silver ink. The papers are by Papermania and the sentiment stamp by Penny Black. I heat embossed the silver heart (s freebie from a magazine last year) and added lace and flowers from my stash.

This card follows the sketch at Whiff of Joy challenge, and the baubles theme at Bah Humbug.

I watercoloured Henry and then added gloss to the bauble. When the gloss was dry I stickle d the bauble and added stickles to the edge of the image. The papers are Basic Grey Wassail, and the sentiment Hero Arts. I added organza ribbon and some punched and layered snowflakes.

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge week 68

This week's challenge has been set by the lovely Wendy and it is hearts ... very romantic and the ideal opportunity to get that Valentine card made!!

I used bits and pieces from my Magnolia winter kit, and watercoloured them all before cutting them out. The bow and hearts on the spoony/loopy thing are decoupages to give some depth. I mounted Tilda using foam pads to add to the feeling of depth. A bit of faux stitching in white and some pink card candy finishes it off. I doodled the sentiment in the heart ... might give it hubby ... if he's good!!

Do take a look at the other DT members cards and join in.

Dutchdare Card Challenge #70

This week's challenge is
Summer in Winter

I think this Penny Black stamp is soi summery and that mouse seems to be having so much fun. i watercoloured the image and then used broken china and worn lipstick ink to distress the background. I haven't used these BG papers for ages, but they go so well with the colours in the image. Another simple layout for me ... just some lacey ribbon and some punched flowers and leaves.

This week's Quixotic Paperie challegne is Flutterby ... I have a butterfly.

Simon Says Stamp Guest Design spot

I'm in this week's Simon Says Stamp Designer Spotlight!!! I am really chuffed to having been asked ... Thank you Lols and Heidi.

The theme for this week's challenge is ...

New Baby

I have been making a lot of baby projects over the last couple of weeks ... 2 friends have had babies, and my niece is due in a couple of weeks.
A few weeks back I made a keepsake book for my SIL and one of my friend's loved it so much she asked me to make one for them when the baby was born. They just didn't know what it was going to be (unlike my SIL). I made up the basics of the book and decorated it when Renee was born. It has been a little adapted from the last one!
My friend and her hubby are not very fussy at all ... .flowers, lace, ribbon was a definite no-no!!
I love this cute PB image and it is such a fab one for baby cards and projects. I watercoloured and cut it out using my nesties. I matted it onto the dp and created a joy fold card so you can open it out ...

to have Renee's name inside.

Here's what it looks like from the side. It is basically an accordian book made from wallets stuck together.

And inside each wallet is a decorated page that journalling and photos can be added too.
The tutorial to make this style of accordian book can be found here, but I have not had the fold over flap on this one ... struggled getting the magnectic snaps to work really well.

Do take a look at the other DT creations and don't forget LOls has candy up for grabs.

I used this fabby Tilda (thanks Ali!!) and watercoloured her. I stickled the edge of the image and added some ribbon, punched snowflakes and a sentiment by Craftwork Cards.

Just Cute Bears Challenge - One for the Girls

Its the first week of our new challenge blog, and we have a fabulous sponsor ... Cuddly Buddly Crafts.
They are offering this gorgeous stamp as this week's prize.

And there is a fabulous DT ... so please do take a look at their bear creations.

Now I have to confess to not being a huge fan of Forever Friends stamps ... always worried I won't colour them in well, and the sticker and decoupage sets are great to use. But ... I was given some FF stamps for Christmas, so I have inked this little one up, and after taking a few deep breathes coloured it in!
I am quite pleased with the colouring ... might spur me on to stamp the others up!! I inked the edges and matted the image onto green cardstock. A simple layout and some gorgeous raffia and gingham , and some flowers ... very pink for me I have to confess!!! Maybe 2010 will be the year I get to like pink!!!

A couple of cards and a sneak peek

I have a stinking cold and sinustus and feel rotten today. The girls have had their first swimming lessons and they both loved them and got on really well, and loved it. I think I two water babies in the family :) While Beth had a sleep to recover from all her exertion in the pool, I have made a couple of cards for a few challenges this afternoon ... Ellie helped with the embossing and glittering!
The first card follows the Just Magnolia sketch, the winter theme over at Fuss and Fancy, Glitter over at Ba Humbag, and the Simon Says Stamps punch it challenge... and I am keeping to my New Year's Resolution of at least 1 Christmas card a week.
Tilda is watercoloured and then I distressed the edges with distress ink. took my distressing tool to the edges of the image and cardstock, then liberally pushed it into my versamark pad (Ellie liked this ..) before sprinkling embossing powder over and heating it (Ellie really liked this bit!!) I (We) repeated the process for the dp and cardstock. I used my cuttlebug snowflake die and pushed it into the versamark pad (helped by Ellie) and then sprinkled with embossing powder (Ellie did this bit) before heating it. I added some raffia and layered punched snowflakes.

The second card I made was for several challenges:
Penny Black Saturday Challenge - Something sweet
Sketch Saturday - sketch
Allsorts - Hearts and flowers
One Stop Craft Challenge - love and kisses (xxx on the tag, and that mouse loved those chocs!!)
Basic Grey Challenge - Animals
The image was watercoloured and then I inked the edges. I added heart gems to the sweets and to the top corners of the image. I don't have any corner punches so I cut a flower into quarters. I used rirac for the scalloped edge.

Its the first challenge tomorrow over at Just Cute Bears Challenge.

And here's a peek at my 1st DT card ...

If you have time do join in.

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge week 67

Its Donna's turn to set the challenge and she has given use a colour challenge based on a photo inspiration.
Now the more I look at this the more I think it might be more of a pink/burgundy than a purple!

But never mind ... here;s my card!
Tilda is coloured using promarkers and copics and then cut out using my deckled nesties. I inked the edges and used this gorgeous dp ... I wish I knew what it was called as I have 2 sheets left! I added some ribbon and flowers glimmered.

Do take a peek at the other DT members creations ... they are fabulous as ever.

Melinda with bouquet

I haven't done much crafting this week, but I did manage to get this card made over a couple of evenings.
I am entering for the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp - punches
Whiff of Joy - recipe
Quixotic Paperie challenges - use an old, neglected stamp

I haven't inked up either of these stamps for ages ... so I stamped Melinda nad masked the fall background. I watercoloured the images, and mixed a few inks together to get the colour of her top to match the dp. I punched my swirls and flowers and added a little bling ... still keeping to simpl, less fussy cards. I love this dp ... need to get some more!!!

A couple of Tildas

What a weekend .. the girls were at Tumble Tots on Saturday and then swimming yesterday, and we have been visiting my friend and her gorgeous little baby girl.
I coloured a couple of images last night while watching telly and put them on cards this morning.

The first uses the layout from Sketch Saturday and the thank you theme over at Just Magnolia.
Tilda is coloured using my promarkers and copics and then matted onto cardstock. I resisted the distressing urge!! The dp is Basic Grey Wisteria and I have matted it onto purple cardstock. The card base is purple cardstock too. The sentiment is Penny Black, and the flowers are punched. I added a few gems to finish.

This card uses the layout fgrom Friday Sketchers, and the Magnolia Down Under Valentine theme. I used pink and grey so that's Cute Card Thursday covered too!!
Tilda and the accessories are coloured using promarkers, and then cut out. I embossed distressed the pink cardstock and matted the Cosmo Cricket dp onto the same pink cardstock. Just some pink ribbon to finish. I'm not sure, but a couple of friends' have said they like it so I'll leave it as it is!

And I have exciting news!! I have been chosen to be on my good blogging friend Ali's new Challenge blog.

The first challegne is on Sunday, so get your bear stamps inked up and join in the fun.

Sketch and Stash Challenge 27

Its another fab sketch by Becky .. and a few more layers this time.
I used my new TGF Snuggles stamp ... Ellie and her bunny spring to mind ... and neglected K and Co papers.
I watercoloured the image and then distressed the edges. The papers are distressed and faux stitched. I distressed some cardstock using worn lipstick and then stamped swirls in faded jeans onto it and punched some flowers out. I added white shiny card candy.
The Dt have come up with some fabulous cards again this time so why don't you take a peek at their cards.

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge week 66

It's Gina's turn to set the challenge this week and she has chosen a musical theme.
I love these ickle meeces dancing away on the piano. I watercoloured then and matted them onto black cardstock. I have gone for a very clean and simple card ... just embossing some pearlised cardstock with my allegro folder and adding a couple of photo anchors.

Do check out the other DT cards and I look forward to seeing your musical creations.

Shabby Chic

With not much help from my lovely puddy cat I made a card last night ... there is shredded tulle in the bin and have chewed papers ... hmmm nice!!!
I have used the sketch from Whiff of Joy Challenge, the shabby chic theme over at Simon Says Stamp, and snowflakes so the EAC and Stamp with Fun challenges are covered. The Colour Create challenge this fortnight is Kraft, blue and white .. .I don't have Kraft but think the browns on the dp are Kraft coloured. They also want texture .. the dp is well textured!

Its a little difficult to see, but I stamped a swirly stars stamp all around the edges of the blue cards stock and then distressed the edges. Uru is watercoloured and cht iut using my nesties. I distressed the background using antique linen and added some ice gold stickles. I used another pieces of un-chewed tulle and threaded it through eyelets in the sentiment. A flower, punched snowflake, spacer and brad, with a snowflake charm finish it off ... oh and some ice gold stickles round the edges to fit in with the glittered paper.
Think its shabby chic!

Dutchdare Card Challenge #69

This week's challenge is a sketch by Wilma.

And here's my take on it:

My image is watercoloured then matted using my nesties. I used lace and ribbon and added some stickles, a flower and snowflake charm, and a ickle brad.

I know its pink ... but I was given some papers by a non crafting friend last year ... and I am on a use it up before I buy diet at the moment.
