Sketch and Stash 18

We have another great sketch by Becky.
And here is my take on it ... I haven't rotated it or anything again!!
I watercoloured the image and used my deckled nesties to cut the image and mat out. I stamped swirls on the cardtock, added raffia, flowers and brads.
Do have a look at the other DT cards and join in the challenge if you can.

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge week 47

This week's challenge has been set by MOI!! I have chosen Flights of Fancy ... anything with wings.

I watercoloured my image and distressed the edges. I have kept the layout simple, using this gorgeous butterfly dp from the Wisteria pad. I added some lilac raffia which I 'sewed' some deep purple ribbon through and punched some flowers and swirls.
Do join in if you have time, and take a peek at the other DT creations.

I am away for the weekend, so I will catch up with you all next week.

Ribbon and bows

I've managed a quick card this morning before we go away, as we were waiting for the cat to come in so we could take her to the cattery!! I have used the sketch from Friday Sketchers, the Colour Create theme, ruby, gold and cream, and the ribbon and bows challenge over at Just Magnolia.
I paper pieced Tilda's dress and bow and watercoloured the rest of her. The dp are all matted with gold. The broad ribbon has been in my stash for ages and I really have struggled thingking of how to use it ... I think it matches the other red!

Starting School

I have thought hard about this and have come up with this card to combine the Simon Says Stamp School Days challenge and the Cute Card Thursday New Beginnings challenge. My baby (well the older baby!!) starts school next Thursday and I had intrended on doing a scrap page, but then thought a card would be nice for her to have. I have searched my stamp collection, and to b e honest this is the nearest to a school image I come ... but I have used the school uniform colours so I hope it counts!
I love this Manga girl's attitude ... so like Ellie. I coloured her using promarkers and the uniform Ellie will wear is blue, grey and gold. I used coredinations cardstock and cut the mats using my nesties. Two are embossed in the Morrocan embossing folder and the other 2 using the writing folder. I took a huge deep breathe and cut into my Bo Bunny ribbon (it is only for stroking!!) and then added a Prima flower which I coloured using a promarker so it matched.

We are off to York for the weekend ... hopefully it won't be too wet, then up to see the grandparents before the big day!! I just need to sew all her name labels in her clothes (yawn!!!).
Have a great weekend what ever you are doing.

Purple manga

I made this card for a couple of challenges ... Papertake Weekly (I have flipped and rotated the sketch) and Passion for Promarkers (purples).
I coloured my image in using all 4 purples, well I couldn't leave one out could I, and then cut the image out. Because I wanted her sitting hanging out of the mat, I rotated the sketch and the flipped it as I prefer the ribbon on the left! Flowers didn't look right so I stamped a scroll using dusty concord and brushed perfect pearls over it, gave it a spritz and dried it with my heat gun.

Dutchdare Card Challenge #59

This week's challenge is a fab sketch by Wilma.
Here's my take on it.
I watercoloured Tilda and distressed the edges. As I haven't got the octagonal nesties I used a different labels shape instead. I dyed the flock using egg plant alcohol ink to make it match the purple in the dp. I punched the flower and added organza and thin satin ribbon.
Do check out the other DT creations, and I think we will be back to weekly challenges next week.

Whiff of Joy Bling

This week's WOJ challenge is to add bling to your card. I am in the process of making sympathy cards (not my favourite type to make) and I thought I would make my friend's little girl one, but try not to make it too sympathy ... if you know what I mean, she is only 3 years old.
Ellie chose the image, and I watercoloured it and cut it our, removing the wings under Ellie's orders!! I have kept the layout very simple and inked the edges of the labels mats. I stamped a border using versamark and then brushed perfect pearls over it. I made the gem scroll by using a clear scroll stamp and following the outline with gems. No ribbon or flowers.
Heres's a photo of the border - doesn't show up too well.

Circles

This week we would like to see circles on your creations. We have got a fabulous Party Animals stamp up for grabs from Katharina at Whiff of Joy.
I am amazed that I have got this card made for this challenge - life is hectic at the moment. Hubby is on holiday so we have been out every day, so no crafting in daylight. And our pussycat has a poorly leg - the vet thinks someone might have shot her with an air pistol. And my friend's father has finally lost his battle with cancer ... so not really in a crafting frame of mind.
I watercoloured the image, and them distressed all the papers ... it can be a great stress reliever! I stitched the papers using siver pen. I made the flowers out of circles (theres's a surprise!!) and again distressed the edges and scrunched them up alot!!.
As I have used grey and pink as a colour scheme I am entering this for the Stampin' for the weekend challenge, and as I have used stitching, I am entering it into the PBSC this week.

A Magnolia Paper bag

We had a fab time at my friend's little boy's 18th birthday on Friday ... until she happened to say "Have you made that paper bag I asked you to make for my sister?" EEEKKKK I had totally forgotten ... so I have spent what spare time I have had over the weekend making a paper bag gift for her to give to her sister.
I have posted the pages/sides over a couple of posts as it is for a few challenges and I hate bombarding you with lots of photos - makes you read more of my blog too!!
For the front I used the sketch over at Friday Sketcher (link on my sidebar), the Just Magnolia monthly challenge which is 3d (went a bit mad on the layering!!) and the Basic Grey challenge, pink, yellow and brown.
I watercoloured Tilda and cut her out several times. I layered up her dress, basket, boots and face. I cut out a circle of white paper from the dp and distressed it. The flowers are punched and mounted so the stand out (I love silicone!!). I used flower soft for the basket of flowers.

Here's a pic of the layering.

I'd like to add a slideshow of the bag here ... but don't know how to - do I feel small LOL!! Can anyone help?

the middle bit!

Here's the middle of the paper bag. I used the same colours from the Bsaic Grey challenge and followed Rach's sketch from Just Magnolia.
Tilda is watercoloured and I distressed the background, before cutting her out using deckled nesties. I embossed the circle using my new embossing folder and added flower soft to the basket. I made a flower layered up with punched flowers and added an organza ribbon tag where the sentiment should be. I added three pearl to the edge as it looked a bit bare. I flipped the sketch for this page.
Really the same as above, but with the sketch the right way!!
And how the opened bag looks ...

Colouring Media: distress inks
Papers: Basic Grey Sugared

And the back!

Here's the back of the paper bag. I carried on the Basic Grey colour challenge, using brown, pink and yellow, and used the sketch from the Allsorts challenge this week, as the panels are similar to that on the Friday Sketcher sketch. I have torn the flower dp on the outer edge.

I used organza ribbon and knots for part of the sketch, and no sentiment as requested. I added flower soft to the basket and punched flowers.
Finally the bag is finished!!

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge #46

This week's SCSC has been chosen by Mandy and its a colour combo, turquoise and brown. I really struggled with papers for this as most of my papers in the is colour way are blue and brown not turquoise!
I coloured the image (a RAK from Jen) using promarkers and copics and matted her onto cardstock. I embossed some turquoise Coredinations cardstock using my hearts folder and sanded it. I used eyelets and ribbon to created the tag detail and brown organza and blue satin ribbon for the knot. Quite simple, but I like the effect of this!
Do check out the other DT creations, and don't forget you can pre-order the latest promarkers from the Secret Crafter.

Cute Critters

Wendy sent me some images of Tina Wenke's Cute Critters. There are really cute images, although maybe a bit too cute for me ... or so I thought until I started colouring them.

I watercoloured the image and resisted very hard the temptation to distress the background. I have kept the layout simple, just using 1 sheet of dp and cardstock. I added organza ribbon tags, some raffia and buttons to complete it.

As its a summery theme I am entering it into the Stampavie challenge.

Promarker night!

I had a play with my promarkers last night and did a couple of challenges.
The first challenge was the Sunday Sketch and Stamp layout, and Passion for Promarkers challenge. This week you need to use Prussian and Pumpkin, with a halloween theme. Not two colours I use much ... and not a theme I make cards for so here goes ...

I added a bit of spice to the pumpkin on Lulu's hair and broom stick, and coloured the hat using warm greys and black. I used my spider's web embossing folder for the background and rubbed some black distress ink over the embossing. I cut a circle and rubbed black ink over it to make it look a bit like the moon.

Charisma Cardz challenge this week is a colour challenge, pink, lemon and green.
I love my little pixies, they do look a bit like my little girls when they are trying to be good!! I coloured them in promarkers and copics and the cut them out and stickled their wings. I coloured the mulberry flowers in with promarkers. I kept the layout simple as the papers are a bit on the busy side!

Do remember that Letraset are bringing out 56 new colours ... already pre-ordered some (can't afford all of them in one go :() from the Secret Crafter.

Finally I have been given this award from Val over at the Crafty Pad - thank you so much.

I'll be back later with who I am going to pass it onto - got to go as I've got children to entertain ... and a stinking cold:(!

Cute Card Thursday Guest DT

It's my 2nd week guesting for Cute Card Thursday. This week's challenge is Lazy Dayz.

This hedgie immediately sprung to mind - Summer to a tee (well anywhere but in the UK!!). I love these papers - another digital freebie - and think they have a great summery feel to them. I have kept the layout simple - just adding some lace and punched flowers.

Christmas in August!!

I have struggled colouring this image in today - stamped her onto linen card and three times it all went splodgey, so didn't do much shading in the end!
I have made this card for 4 challenges:
Whiff of Joy challenge - a fab sketch by Rach
Our Creative Corner - Christmas in August
Creative Card Crew - Christmas in August
Simon Say Stamp - Christmas in August

I watercoloured the image and distressed the edges. I used these fab Daisy D papers ad matted them onto cardstock. I added organza ribbon and white lace, and flowers which I layered and spritzed with glimmer mist. I stamped a corner detail onto the dp and onto a corner of the image. No sentiment yet - I must get some small Christmas sentiment stamps.

BUTTONS
This week we want to see buttons on your project.
I have been a bit minimalist with the buttons on this! I watercoloured and cut out these two Tildas. I haven't really used either and saw someone (can't remember who, sorry!) put the two togetrher using the field of flowers. That gave me the inspiration for this. I used Basic Grey Wisteria papers and sat the girls in the Wisteria (it grows upside down where they live LOL!!). I used two tones of ribbon and punched some flowers and leaves. I threaded the clear buttons with the deep purple ribbon.

I followed the Friday Sketcher sketch and added the sentiment so it fits the Just Magnolia challenge of Friendship.
I have been a bad blogger over the last week - I just haven't seemed to have the time to visit everyone. Hopefully I will get time over the next week as I am working less!!

Do check out the other DT members cards.

A few challenges ...

I've managed to combine 5 challenges for this card!!
  • Stamp with fun - sketch
  • Papertake Weekly Challenge - favourite challenge - favouritet things
  • Pollycraft challenge - favourite things
  • Stampin for the Weekend - Days gone by (vintage)
  • Allsorts - English Country Garden
I watercolured my image and cut her and the matt out using my deckled nesties. I distressed the image in antique linen and vintage photo, and all the dp is distressed in the same inks. I used 1 design paper and 1 piece of co-ordinating cardstock. The flowers are punched out of the same papers and the lace dunked in tea to take the whiteness away. Pearls (very vintage!!) finish the flowers off.
So my favourite things ...
distress inks, distressing, punches, pretty papers, flowers ...
the list could go on LOL!!!

Michael's 18!!!

My best friend's little boy is 18 on Saturday .. and I have known him since he was 3 - eekkk!!!! How old do I feel?!! I have been struggling with the birthday card for him, but finally settled on the image and the rest has sort of fallen into place - would have liked another few weeks for this (not that i've not known it was coming LOL!!!).
I have combined a few challenges for it ...
  • PBSC - blue, tan and cream
  • Sketch Saturday - layout
  • A Spoonful of Sugar - travel (well they are in a boat LOL!)
  • Papertake Weekly Challenge - pick your favourite challenge and do it again - mine was Elegant embossing (not sure this is so elegant LOL!)
I watercoloured the image and the cut it and the matt using my nesties. I embossed all the cardstock using Swiss Dots and the Happy Birthday folders. I used my Fiskars threading water punch for the scallops and added a strip of carstock instead of ribbon. No flowers, I used buttons instead of flowers.
Now just got to get the pressie!!

Sketch and Stash 17

Its another Sketch and Stash and Becky has created yet another fabulous sketch.
Here's my take on it ... and for once I have left it as it is!!

I watercoloured my image (kindly given to me by Vicky) and distressed the edges in shabby shutters and peeled paint. I have had these papers for ages, but haven't cut into them until now asa they are just so strokeable. I matted them onto cerise cardstock and added a cerise ribbon. I punched flowers and swirls and added some gems. Finally I stamped the sentiment straight onto the dp.

The other DT careations are stunning so do take a peek at them.
