Distressed Paper Bag

I've been feeling in a very creative mood today and having not got any children to mind, and two tired children of my own I have been able to get in my craft room and get dirty!!! I have altered a paper bag (how many weeks late for the Just Magnolia challenge LOL!!) to hold some gifts for a friend. It fits a few challenges (alays a good thing!!)
Just Magnolia - distressing
Simon Says Stamp - distressing
Friday Sketcher - sketch on the front
My Time to Craft - floral frenzy
Stampin for the weekend - alter something

The front:The insides: The front: I stamped Tilda three times and masked one before stamping the watering can. I watercoloured the image in and bits of the other two. I cut these bits out and layered them up. I distressed the image using dried marigold, shabby shutters and an off gold I have. I distressed the edges of the cardstock and distressed that in spiced marmalade and vintage photo, and faux stitched them. The dsign paper is distressed with shabby shutters and dried marigold. I folded the dp corners over and stamped the swirl using spiced marmalade and then brushed gold perfect pearls over it, spritzed it with water and dried it. I added eyelets, the ticket, and the layered flower which I glimmer misted.

Inside:

Instead over covering over the whole of the inside with dp, I left the fold from the bottom of the bag so I had an insert for a tag. I distressed the cardstock and dp as before. I used the wet distressing method to make the left hand panel and tags, using shabby shutteres, dried marigold and spiced marmalade. For the panel I used a Tim Holtz border mask and went over it with spiced marmalade and vintage photo. I stamped the swirls and sentiment in peeled paint and went over the swirls with perfect pearls as before.
I stamped Tilda three times and watercoloured her. She is layered up and the edges distressed in shabby shutters and dried marigold. I tore the edges of my dp and distressed them. I made the tag as described above. Ellie helped with the spritzing of the perfect pearls - a bit on the keen side so the ink ran quite a bit and there is less glimmer!!

The back: I used the same dp as the front and distressed and faux stitched it. I added some raffia and flowers that had been spritzed with glimmer mist, and wrote my sentiment on the journalling ticket.

Some details:

This is the scroll stamped in spiced marmalade and then brushed with perfect pearls, spritzed with water and dried.
Here is a close up of my own design paper and tags.
And finally the tags with Ellie's swirls done with perfect pearls!! You can also see the layering up.

Sorry for all the pics ... but I am really pleased with this. I have only made I wallet for the inside, but I will make another one tomorrow.

A few challenges

I got into my craft room last night and made a card for a few challenges:
Whiff of Joy - Floral
My time to Craft - Floral frenzy
Cute Card Thursday - get fruity
Colour Create - orange, pink and green

I stamped up my image and masked the large strawberry behind her so you can see the flowers. I coloured them in using copics and promarkers and matted her onto cardstock. I have kept it simple and only used 1 dp. I added the raffia lace and orange ribbon, the imaginesce flower brad and coloured the Maya Road flower in using copics and added a big green brad.
I have to admit to being slightly concerned about the colour mix ... but I think it works.

Orange!!

This is my card for this week's fab sketch by Dawny P on the Papertake Weekly Challenge, and also for the Creative Crew's Girls want to have fun challenge .. well shopping is fun isn't it!!!
I coloured this image in with promarkers and copics. I rotated the sketch to fit the image and added ribbon. The flower is coloured in using my orange copic pen. I added a panel of dp and matted it onto raffia lace.
Its not been too bad here today ... huge thunder storm this morning but gorgeous afternoon so we got out and went to Dunham park to feed the ducks, see the deer and do the garden quiz. On of the children I mind has never seen deer ... it was an interesting encounter LOL!!! (think the deer will recover before she does!!)

Simon Says ...Distress!!!

The Simon Says challenge this week is distressing - oh and do I love to distress things!! I made this card last night having been trapped inside with a 2 year old, 2 4 year olds and a 7 year old for the day ... the distressing certainly helped de-stress me!!
I watercoloured my image and then used the cracked glass technique on it (tutorial on my sidebar). I went to town on the papers, ripping the edges and inking them up. I distressed my flowers and spritzed them with glimmer mist and added some raffia.

Finally I stamped a scroll in each corner using dusty concorde ink and then brushed green patina perfect pearls over it, spritzed it with water and dried it - sadly the photo doesn't do justice to the shine. (I have a tutorial on this technique - its on my sidebar)I used the sketch from Trully Scrumptious - it is upside down as I cut my papers without thinking!
Hopefully it will be less wet today so I can get the children out and running about.

Dutchdare Card Challenge 57

The challenge this week is to use lace.

I watercoloured my image and distressed it in antique linen, tattered rose and vintage photo. I distressed the dp in vintage photo. I created my own design paper using antique linen and vintage photo distress ink and a tattered angels mask. I spritzed it in old lace and walnut gold glimmer mist.

A bit on the late side, but I have used the sketch from this week's friday Sketcher so I am entering ithis into this week's challenge.

Pastel pink and cool aqua

I have to admit that pastel pink and cool aqua are not my favourite promarker colours but I think I have risen to the challenge on this!
I coloured the hair in cool grey and cool aqua, and then rest in pastel pink and cool acqua. I cut the image and matt out using my nesties. I coloured the bracket in using the pastel pink - I just needed to fill that space!!

ABC challenge is for ...

YELLOW
Not my favourite colour so I have added quite a bit of black!!

I watercoloured my image and then used my nesties to cut her and the black matt out. I added a panel of dp matted onto black and some yellow ribbon. I punched flowers out of the black and yellow dp and coloured the centres in. Finally I stamped the Pollycraft sentiment.

I have followed the Spoonfull of Sugar sketch so am entering this into the challenge.

Choc and marshmallow Anya

Having abstained from crafting for the weekend (I have to admit to taking some images away to colour!) I have made a card this morning (up at 6am!!). It fits both the Allsorts challenge (Sketch and colour theme) and Stamp with Fun (pearls). I was really pleased to be in the Allsorts top 5 last week.

I coloured this image, given to my by my lovely ABC DT buddy Jen, using promarkers and copics. I kept the sketch simple, keeping a white background and matting the dp onto brown cardstock. I added some Bo Bunny ribbon, punched flowers and pearls.

And here's my little one at Llandudno!

Secret Crafter Saurday Challenge #42

Its Donna's turn to set the challenge and its a recipe this week - 2 design papers, 3 buttons and 1 ribbon.

I coloured my image and distressed it in antique linen, tattered rose and shabby shutters before masking the image and spritzing with glimmer mist. I matted the dp onto olive green cardstock and punched some flowers. I added the buttons to the centres of the flower. I made a paper bead and threaded it through my ribbon.

Do take a peek at the other DT cards.

We're away this weekend - camping (?!) at Bodnant garedens so hopefully it will be nice enough to get to the beach ... but no crafting for me :(

How many mistakes?

My older baby finished preschool today ... off to 'big' school in September. They did a morning of activities that the parents could stay for and here she is in the tee shirt she designed and painted. (its a princess walking a cat on a lead!)
Having had an emotional morning I thought I would make a cardbefore we go away for the weekend - lost count of the mistaskes on this one - hopefully not too many are still visible LOL! I have used this week's Just Magnolia Sketch by Tab and the theme over at Stampin for the Weekend - masking. I am really chuffed - I made their top 5 last week!

Another of my stamp kit inked up for this. I stamped her and then masked her before adding the watering can. I stamped another couple of images and watercoloured them. I then layered Tilda and the flower upp to add some depth. i went a bit mad with the distressing tool (any guesses which corner got completely removed and restuck?!) and distressed the background and dp in peeled painted and speiced marmalade. I am into textures at the mo so I added lace and raffia and a couple of copper eyelets. The flowers are punched from the dp and pearls added. I inked up the sentiment - only wanted loves me loves me not ... the t didn't stamp - wasn't going to have another go!!

Here's proof its masked - you can just see the original Tilda on the watering can!

Well off to feed the kids and pack the car for a jolly weekend camping!!
Don't forget to pop back tomorrow to see my DT card for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge.

Distressed summer Tilda

My Magnolia Stamp kit has finally arrived ... couldn't wait to ink this gorgeous one up ... but didn't feel like doing a cute card so I went for the more grungey look.
I am entering this into this week's Simon Says Stamp (sketch which I rotated), Cute Card Thursday (eyelets) and Charisma Cardz (Tag it).
I watercoloured Tilda and cut her out. I distressed the tag in traditional Tim Holtz fashion and when it was dry added the text and the bit of raffia. The dp has been distressed using a distressing tool and faded jeans ink. To add the texture I used raffia and the eyelets just punched wherever! I used a stencil to added the yellow scrolls to the corners.
Here's a close up of the tag - I am really pleased with the distressed background - it does look watery.

I love this stamp - there is a photo of me when I was about three years old in a similar style swimming costume - I loved it because when you first went in the water the skirt floated!!! Oh the memories - might see if I can dig a pic out!!

Whiff of Joy challenge

Just a quick post this morning - I am a child down due to them being poorly, and the girls are at pre-school ... so having done all the upstairs cleaning I had time to make a quick card for a friend's birthday. I used the sketch from this week's Whiff of Joy challenge.

I haven';t inked up this image for ages, and having done some quite pretty, flowery cards recently I thought I'd go for bright and fun! I coloured the image using a mixture of copics and promarkers. I matted the dp onto orange cardstock and just added a couple of orange buttons. Nearly time to pick the girls up ... forcast rain ... can I cope with 3 squealing, screaming girls all afternoon indoors? hmmmmm....!

ABC challenge - x is for

Sketch
this week we have a sketch with an x on it for you, designed by our lovely Helen.

I coloured my image in distress inks and used perfect pearls on the balloon. I matted the dp onto pastel blue cardstock and punched flowers from the cardstock and dp. I mounted the cut out image on pads to raise it up a bit and placed so she is floating over the circle.

Itss a fab sketch and I can't wait to see what you come up with. Do check out the other DT members blogs to see how they made their cards.

I have been given this fab award by Karen ... and I am going to pass it on to all my followers.

Lots of Challenges!

So busy looking after children at the mo ... I love the summer holidays - really pays for the crafting!!
Anyway my Sugar Nellie Mangas arrived today (couldn't decide which 2 so bought 2 ... and 2 more!!). I have madly combined challenges to get this birthday card for my cousin made ... she'll be 23 nest week!
I used the Stamp with fun sketch (a little adapted!), the Passion for Promarker colours (lime green and Rose pink), the A spoonful of Sugar Swirls (flower and punched swirl), Creative Card Crew's polka dots, Papertake's colour combo and Allsorts one of everything ... think that's all!

I coloured this gorguss image in promarkers - ice greys for the hair and boots, and then used my nesties to cut the ovals and label shape(should be a circle in the sketch!). I found cardstock that almost matched the lime green and the pinks in the dp match the rose pink, ribbon and large flower. I threaded the button with white braid and knoted it acouple of times. One punched swirl finishes it off.

I love these stamps and am going to practicse colouring them - particularly the hair!

Sketch and Stash 15

Its another fab sketch from Becky and I loved using it. The optional extra challenge is to use neglected scraps ... so I did!

I used my new Popcorn stamp that I got using a prize voucher - didn't realise that the image was going to be this big! I watercoloured the image and cut it out. Taking the scraps element to heart, I have only used papers from my scraps tray. I rotated the sketch and set the panels at a jaunty angle.I matted Popcorn onto the pink cardstock and placed it in the centre of the card. I used large brads and added a flower and some gems. Very minimalist and I love it!

Soft and sweet

Just a quick card today... I tried the girls out in their 'bangy' clothes (Dave does English Civil War re-enactment) and ... shock horror Ellie's long dress from last year reaches her knees!! Should have kept the tonsils!!!!! So I have been making her a new dress as we are away at the weekend and she likes to dress up! Beth got away with just dropping the hem on her dress.
I combined PBSC's soft and sweet challenge with the sketch from Sketch Saturday, which I rotated.
I colored the cute ickle mouse in distress inks and distressed the background in tattered rose, aged mahogany and shabby shutters. I matted the dp onto K and Co dp and added gold organza ribbon. I used a small flower and a couple of flower brads to finish it off.
Going to have an early night tonight .. bath and telly!

Blue Tilda

Having been evicted from my bed at 6am this morning (thanks small children and cat!!!) I decided to make this card. I have combined the sketch from Friday Sketcher, the Just Magnolia challegne Buttons, and Stamp something for the Weekend Rock 'n' Roll 70s theme - I picked the theme Tangled up in Blue.
I would have loved to use an image from the latest Magnolia Stampclub kit ... only its still sitting in Sweden ... they 'forgot' to send it to me:( hopefully it will be with me by the end of next week.
I watercoloured my image and distressed the background in milled lavender and broken china. I added white flower soft to the basket. I cut the circle part of the sketch to created a shaped front.

I added the sentiment and flowers and decorated the inside using matching papers and buttons threaded with ribbon.

Did quite well selling cards this morning - can buy a few more supplies!!
I crafting friend set a challenge to make a curvy card with no stamping or decoupage on it ... first time I have ever made one of these and so I am surprised it worked as well as it has!!
I distressed the cardstock in milled lavender distress ink and then used a mask and rubbed over dusty concorde. Finally I spritzed it with frost glimmer mist.

Hmmmm might need to have another go at this!
Have a great weekend.
