Dutch Dare Challenge #46

This week's challenge is a fab sketch. I have rotated mine for this card.
I watercoloured Tilda and the cut her our. The papers are all from the same Making Memories pack, and I faux stitched them. I added some lace and flowers, and stamped and distressed the sentiment.
Please check out the other DT members creations and havea go at the sketch.

Sorry I am in a bit of a rush today - Ellie is under the weather and its yet another morning at pre-school!

Peek-a-boo

I have yet to get near my craft room today. Ellie went on a school trip to a local museum and I got 'volunteered' into going to help, so I have been looking at caterpillars and bugs this morning! However I did get in my craft room last night to make a card, but there is a bit of a story to it.

We are trying to separate Ellie from her beloved bunny comforter that she has had pretty much since she was born. Now having been loved continually for four and a half years she is in need of a rest. Auntie Jo-Jo has patched her in several places and I have bound the edges for her so she doesn't fray too much more. Ellie is resisting all strategies to let go of Bunny ... so I have come up with another strategy - a putting to bed party, with cake, cards, presents (bed, pillow, duvet for bunny!), and here is the card I have made.

The image is coloured in promarkers and cut of using nesties. I haven't used any dp as I intend the card ti eventually be the centrepiece of a scrap page. All the coredinations papers nave been embossed and distressed 9I just couldn't not LOL!!). I added punched and distressed flowers with gems at their centre and punched leaves, and brown and pink organza ribbon. It will have a sentiment that Ellie does ... it just needs to be tackled senstively!!

I have followed this week's Creative Card Crew sketch, used my fav colours of the mo, green and brown (pink is a bit of a necessity for a pink bunny LOL!) whch covers Our Creative Corner's challenge, and as I have used pink, brown and green it will qualify for the Stampavie challenge.

ABC challenge ... L is for ...

list.
For this challenge you need to include:
a ribbon
3 flowers
6 brads
Ellie has a friend who will be four next week so I have made her this birthday card (and yes it is pink!!).

I used my latest Gorguss girls - I love this one's attitude (definitely my two at the mo!!) I coloured her in in distress inks and then inked the edges. I haven't used these papers for ages, but they are perfect for a little girl. I combined them with yellow cardstock and ribbon. I punched the flowers from the same dp and added yellow brads to their centres. I stamped the sentiment and added a couple more brads.

We have a guest designer this week, Samantha, who has put up this week's prize. Do check out her blog and the other DT members blogs and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Spots and stripes ... and a splash of green and blue

Beth has started pre-school and my free time seems to have shrunk into nothing ... how logical is that!!! Ellie has taken herself off to bed this afternoon complaining of not feeling well, ad Beth is sleeping off the excesses of this morning LOL!! So having done the ironing, made pizza dough for the children's tea, I sat down to have a go at three challenges:
Papertake weekly - spots and stripes
Stamp with fun - a fab sketch by Bev (which I have rotated)
A Spoonfull of Sugar - blue and green
I'm not sure about it now I have done it ... but there you go!

I watercoloured the image and distressed the edge in green ink. I cut out the image and matt with my trusty nesties and layered up the patterned paper onto blue from the same pack. I haven't any circular sentimens so I layered up a couple of buttons and fastened with ribbon. I added some green and blue wire ... haven't used this for ages. The space is in the top left corner is where the sentiment will go when I decide what to put.

A couple of challenges

I had a crafting evening last night as I needed to amke a couple of birthday cards, so I thought I would have a go at a couple of challenges at the same time.
The first challenge I tackled was this week's Colour Create, and the theme is orange, brown and green with the option of making a cards for a man. I quite like making cards for men as I like the earthy colours and its nice not to use flowers! I have made 2 cards, one for a birthday in the next couple of weeks and one for a birthday in June ... I wonder if a certain wife can guess her hubby's card? (Jo!!!)
I haven't inked Hamish up for ages, so he has come out for this challenge. I coloured him in distress inks and inked the edges. I used these fab BG papers, and cut along the colour lines on the stripy paper to remove the blue element, and add a bit of interest. I added a BG rub on to finish it. There are no embellishments as to be honest unless I can find landrover or cannon brads I might as well forget it!!

For the second card I used this image as I had a spare one stamped up from the other day, and I think it suits the colour theme really well. Again it is coloured in distress inks and the edges inked up. I used the same papers as before and pretty much the same layout rotated. The sentiment is a BG rub-on. I added 3 buttons to it to finish it off.
After all that earthiness I tackled the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge with a splash of ... pink!! There challenge is to use charms on your creation.
I watercoloured the image and matted her onto pink cardstock and K and Co papers. I used my Fiskars threading water punch to create the scalloped edges. Sorry the photo is not brill (cat's indoors as it is pouring down and is being .. ermm ... helpful!! So I will try to get a better one later), but I added the ickle silver charm to the punched flowers and swirls, and forgot the ribbon, but it doesn't seem to be missing the ribbon.
Well its time to pack Ellie off to pre-school so I'll catch up with you all later.

Sketch and Stash #9

Becky has done another fabulous sketch this week, and you can put your embellishments and sentiment wherever you want.
I have to confess having had 2 goes at this., as I did the first and was a little unsure about it...but hubby loves it.

I used this Pollycraft image Daydreamer and the sentiment from the same range, which are new to my collection. I coloured her in promarkers and matted her onto green cardstock, using my nestie labels to cut her and the matt out. The papers are from my very neglected DCWV adhesive stack. I punched the flowers using another neglected punch, added gems and some wire (again very neglected!!). I am not sure what I am not keen on ... it could be the dp.

So I had another on Friday night when my Gorguss girls arrived ...
I am much happier with this. I have skewed the elements in the sketch for this one. I watercoloured the image and cut her out using my nesties. The matt is the same size and placed at an angle. The dp is MME Laundry line and is all shiny new and so strokable ... I am amazed I actually cut into it!! The sentiment is from my Swirls plate and saw its 1st inking. I added flowers, and the ickle charm which I won as part of Camilla's blog candy.
I am much much happier with this ... hubby still prefers the first one!!!
Do check out the other DT members creations and our Guest DT Lena, and have a go yourselves.

Sugar Bowl Challenge ... Men

This week's Sugar Bowl challenge is to make a card fro a man, old, young, in between, it doesn't matter. I like making bloke cards as I am not a big doer of embellies (contrary to what some of my cards suggest LOL!) and I love working with earthy tones which aren't very girly. I love the Sugar Nellie Home Grown boys, so resisted the callings of Hamish and inked up this little boy.
I coloured him in distress inks and then inked the edges in dark brown. All the dp are matted onto dark brown hammered cardstock and the edges inked. Iused the dark drown ink pad to colour the chipboard embellies and added three buttons.

Saturday challenges

I had a day crafting yesterday as Dave took the girls to Blackpool to allow me time to get ahead with my Design Team cards ... and I sneaked in a challenge card LOL!! I combined the Sketch Saturday sketch (but amended it a bit to fit a circle shape), Creative Crew's Round and round challenge, PBSC Anything Goes and Secret Crafter challenge, a Shape Card. The Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge are also doing a DT call, and having participated so much and been lucky enough to win one of their prizes, I would love to be considered.
I made my card base using my nesties, I placed the circle so the fold was just inside the die. The card base is pearlised card which I have inked in silver. I used my nesties to cut out the various cricles, and my SU scallop punch to do the scalloped edges. the image is watercoloured and them I added stickles to it for a bit of sparkle. I stamped the sentiment onto pearlised card and cut it out using my nesties (where would I be without them LOL!). I used thin black velvet ribbon and the trim is a bit of glittered beaded paper from the same stack.

Tilda with basket

The week is almost over (thank goodness!!) and hopefully we will have a quiet weekend with lots of crafting time!
I havemanaged to get a card made today in between all the running around and being out we have done today!
I have combined the CCT challenge (get Edgy), the Friday Sketcher sketch and the Just Magnolia challenge (pink and green and come up with this ...
I got this stamp from Vicky for my birthday last year and I haven't inked her up for ages. I have to confess I have had a clear out of some of my neglected Tildas ... better they go to a good home than live at the bottom of my stamp box, but I loved this one so much that I couldn't part with her.
I stamped Tilda and then masked her and added the goblin grass before colouring her in distress inks. I stickled her wings and glossed her boots. The edges of the image are distressed and inked and the stripy dp is torn (gulp its almost too gorgeous to tear!). I used pale pink cardstock for the matting and punched swirls. As this is going to be a birthday card for a crafty friend (who will aprreciate their beauty and cost LOL!!) I glimmer misted hydragena flowers and added spacers to the layered ones.
Here's a close up of Tilda, she is gorgeous and I need to use her more!
My Gorguss girls set 2 arrived today so I am going to spend the evening ez mounting and stamping them.

DDCC challenge - Create a scene

It sometimes makes me smile how so many challenges have similar challenges, and this is true this week. Having made this card last Friday, I had to smile when the Secret Crafter challenge was to make a scene ... just like this week's DDCC challenge!!! So if you haven't already done the Secret Crafter here's your chance to do 2 challenges and 1 card!! I stamped Tilda and Bee in and then masked her so I could add the tree stump and signpost. I watercoloured them all and cut the scene out using my Nesties labels. I matted the scene and hand trimmed rouns it. The background dp has had the corners rounded and a ribbon added. Finally I punched a flower and a copule of swirls.
Do check out the other DT members' creations.

Ellie made a card ...

... and isn't it fab!! She did everything but cut round the image herself.
Whilst Ellie was doing that card I was making this for the WOJ challenge ...
Its another fab sketch and I really enjoyed doing it. I watercoloured and distressed the image and then matted the dp onto cardstock. I decided not to use a background paper, rather use a cream card base. I added WOJ swirl stamps and punched some flowers and swirls from the dp and inked the edges. Little adhesive gems finish it off.

Stamp(s): WOJ Willow in sunhat; swirls
Colouring Media: distress inks
Papers: K and Co
Embellishments: punched flowers and swirls, adhesive gems

ABC challenge ... K is for

Keep it Simple
For this challenge you don't need to use lots of embellishments or details, a great opportunity to use those special items in your stash!
Shock horror - no stamped image on mine this week!!

The background white cardstock is embossed and then the embossing coloured using distress ink. I made a flower using my nesties and cuttlebug, and inked the edges using the same ink as the background. A sparkly brad, some ribbon and a marabou feather complete it. I did debate putting a sentiment on and decided against it - very simple!

Do check out the other DT creations and have a go yourself.

Spoonfull of Sugar sketch

Beth started Pre-school this morning, what a big girl she was too. I had to stay with her, but she didn't need me as she had Ellie and about 8 other children she has known from Mums and Tots. Hopefully Pre-school will sort the undressing and screeching issues she has that i have so far failed to solve!!!
Anyway she was shattered when she got home and is now tucked up in bed, so Ellie and I have been crafting. (By the way "crafting is tiring" announced my older daughter 10 minutes ago and she is now sitting on the sofa playing with her Leap pad and "resting"!!) I have made a card following Caryn's sketch over at A Spoonfull of Sugar. I had already got the image coloured and cut into a circle so i have just had to sort the papers and layout out - a job really as Ellie is high maintenance when crafting - she like to use all the stash I DONT want her to use LOL!!

Willow has been watercoloured and as this pad of paper was still out I have used it again. I do love these vintage K and Co papers and they go so well with Elizabeth Bell images. As I was trying to prevent Ellie glitter gluing everything in sight, I put two of the stripes on a little out of place - oops! Another simple card with little addition - the paper's much too busy for lots of embellies!!

We are off to the doctor's in a bit - Beth has had a cough for over 2 weeks and both Ellie and hubby ended up on anti-biotics so its probably about time I took her too! I am going to blog hop tonight instead of doing the ironing and card making, I haven't done very much hopping due to the weather and life in general.

Take one pad of paper

... and interpret it in two totally different ways.
I have done very little crafting for a couple of days as I have been suffering from hayfever and have been in the garden tidying and planting. The girls are growing vegetables so we have planted carrots, cucumbers, peas and beans. However Beth is going through the 2 year old "I am scared of the dark, my bed, and generally sleep" phase so I have been playing with my pro-markers whilst persauding her that sleeping in her own bed is a good idea!!.
The Stamp with Fun challenge this week is a great sketch, and I have combine it with this week's Creative Inspirations challenge which is a recipe - 3 flowers, 2 buttons and ribon/fibre/lace.
I coloured the image in using promarkers and matted it onto pink cardstock. All the papers come from the same K and Co pack andI use olive green cardstock. I punched and inked flowers and added gems to their centres. The swirls are also punched. Finally I added the ickle buttons.

The second challenge is the Papertake weekly Challenge. Dawny has done a fantastic sketch again and here is my interpretation of it.
I coloured Tilda and cut her out - I have not matted her onto a dp, just placed her onto the next layer back on the sketch. I have kept it verysimple - no embellishments, as the pweosn it is intented for will hate all the ribbon, flowers etc of the card above. I stamped the sentiment straight onto the dp.I just hope it is acceptable as the sketch.

Colour Create - Monochrome and pink

This week's Colour Create challenge is Black, white and pink. Eek the word pink!!!! Two weeks on the run!!! But I have had a go using one of my new Sugar Nellie Mary Hall's.
I watercoloured the image using distrss inks, and also watercoloured some of the flowers on the dp. I matted the image onto cerise pink and black cardstock. I matted some of the dp onto the cerise cardstock too. I love this cerise gingham ribbon. I stamped matted the sentiment. Another simple layout from me - not sure about the image ... I do think he looks a little like a vampire in the black and grey!!!

A little scene

Where does the time go - I can't believe it is already late afternoon! We had friends over yesterday and this morning, and after they left I attacked the compost heap and garden. I needed to empty the broken down heap on to the garden so I can start filling it again with all my veg waste. So it has all been moved from the heap at the back of the garden to the raised flower beds (my back loves me not now!). Ellie and Beth then helped me plant some bedding plants in the beds and some peas, dwarf beans and radishes in pots (thank you Auntie Jo-Jo!). When we bought the bedding plants Ellie was a little confused by the name ... she thought they were night time plants that you put by your bed!!
Anyway I have managed to drag myself from the glorious weather in the garden up to the craft room to make a couple of cards.
For this card I have used this week's Secret Crafter challenge, make a scene, and the sketch from Sketch Saturday (with just a ickle resizing of some of the elements!!)

I stamped Tilda and masked her before adding the grass and signpost. She is watercoloured as is the background. Again BG papers from the same pack, a smidge of ribbon and the punched flowers (but no swirl LOL!)

Here is a close up of the scene.I am quite pleased with the masking and positioning ... but it would be sooo much easier if they were clear stamps LOL!!

Well I really ought to be cutting the lawn or making the DT cards I need to for next week's challenges, but I have been a little neglectful on the blogging front for the last couple of weeks so I might put the kettle on and do some blog hopping.

PBSC - raining daisies sketch

I haven't done the last couple of PBSC challenges as I was eastered out and then away, so i was looking forward to this week's challenge, which is a sketch by Nat.

I do love this little cutie, and have watercoloured him in. I used papers from the same BG paper, I love this pack! I have kept it all simple, just a bit of ribbon and a punched flower and swirl. I am on a mission to use up my stash (before a good friend of mine starts putting it on Ebay ... you know who you are LOL!!) so I have used a neglected pack of flower gems for the centre of my flower.

Just Magnolia Challenge 1

Just Magnolia is a new challenge blog for Magnolia fans. There is a fab prize on offer and a great sketch by Donalda. Here is my take on it, I have rotated the sketch.
I have kept the colours to a theme, and having watercoloured Tilda I distressed her and cut her out using my mega nesties. As the next size up is much larger, I cut the layer our of the same size and put it at an angle. Lots of punched flowers and I resisted the temptation to punch swirls and went for leaves instead.

Friday Sketcher

Its another fab sketch from the Friday Sketcher team.
I watercoloured this cute Tilda, distressed the edges and added some swirls. The papers are all Basic Grey and I added some organza ribbon. No flowers or punched swirls as I love these papers and didn't want to hide them!

WOJ challenge

Theis week's WOJ challenge is monochrome with an accent of colour. I chose a tealy blue (it matches the distress ink colour Broken China) to go with the black and white.
I watercoloured my image (Black soot, weathered wood, broken china) and distressed the edges using weathered wood and broken china. I found at the back of my paper stash a pad of monochrome papers, so I coloured some of the flowers in using broken china and layered them up. I matted the image onto black and teal cardstock, and punched flowers and swirls. I inked the edges of the flowers using Brilliance Starlight black, and added gems to finish. (I forgot to add the black velvet ribbon I had got out for it - opps!!)
A close up of Melinda ... (I am quite pleased how this turned out!)
