Papertake Weekly meets Spoonfull sketch

This week's Papertake Weekly challenge is to use 1 circle, 2 ribbons and 3 stamps/images, and the Spoonfull of Sugar challenge is a sketch ... which happens to have a circle in it! As time is becoming more limited during the day, I have combined the challenges and come up with this ...

I stamped Willow and masked her so I could stamp the scene on behind (2 stamps!) and then watercoloured the scene. I have used some neglected papers, and apart from a little mistake and so resizing of the elements have followed the sketch with no rotation (I do like rotating sketches!) . Rather than buttons and brads I have used some adhesive gems as I am on a drive to finish up all those bits and bobs that get left at the bottom of baskets! I punched my flowers and inked the edges and added a sentiment (3rd stamp). I did wonder what it would look like as the background dp is not a favourite of mine - but it looks OK!

We are all exhausted here - I spent the morning at Pre-school sweeping the carpark so it is clean and safe for the children to play on. I had to take Beth, who loved playing with the other children, and their favourite game was ... running through and kicking the piles of rubbish we had swept, lovely little helpful things that they are!!! I now have blisters on my hands and the back is worse than ever ... but my halo is very shiny!

Blog candy with a twist!

OK this is a bit different from the nomal blog candy, and I got involved having seen the post on Lorraine's blog, but have been a bit delayed in getting round to doing it!
The first 5 people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice! For you. (There is a possibility it will be a purchased item instead of homemade, or both).
This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2. What I create will be just for you.
3. It'll be done sometime in the next month or so (or sometime this year!).
4. You have no clue what it's going to be.
5. The catch? Oh, the catch is you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog (then come here and post)
6.the 1st person on your list should be the person who's list you are adding your name to ie, I will give candy to Lorraine too,

SO ... who's up for this?

1. Lorraine
2. Samantha
3. Karen
4. Clare
5. Joanne
6.

If you see your name on the top 5 please email me your address so I can get your candy out!

Sketch and Stash #7

Its time for another Sketch and Stash, and another brilliant sketch from Becky.
You can put your sentiment and embellishments anywhere you want on the sketch.

I had to use one of my new Sugar Nellie's (I am keeping some ogf my new stamps back for these challegnes so I don't run out of new stash LOL!). I watercoloured her and distressed the edges. I love this pack of K and Co and think it works really well with Elizabeth Bell stamps. I have kept it all quite simple so I only added some organza ribbon and punched flowers and leaves.
Do check out the other DT members blogs and our GDT member Joanne to see what they have come up with.

Gorguss Easter

The Sugar Bowl challenge is Easter or Spring, so I have made and Easter card for a pink and chocolate loving friend.
I watercoloured my Gorjuss girl and cut her out. I used my nesties to cut out the egg, and added adhesive gems and ribbon so it looked like an Easter Egg. I sat the Gorguss one on the ribbon (hubby thinks she is looking very possessive about all that chocolate!!) I used my Fiskars Threading water punch to do the scalloped edge and borrowed Ellie's egg punch to punch the eggs, and added gems to them. Some doodling, a bow and some text finished it off.

April Showers and Christmas

Its been a mixed weekend really - horrible weather yesterday, and glorious sunshine today. Hubby is poorly, Ellie's still got a cough and Beth is ... well just Beth!! Dave took the girls to see old buses yesterday so I could get some crafting done ... made a couple of cards, sorted out and put away a load of toys and booked our summer holiday! Today I have taken the girls to a bouncy castle and football party - they now look like beetroots and are exhausted!
Anyway, as I said I made a couple of cards yesterday. The first uses the Sketch Saturday sketch, Faux stitching (Secret Crafter) and is a spring card (PBSC) - well I have done April showers which is spring (got a bit fed up of all the Easter cards I am making and the pastel colours!)
I watercoloured this gorgeous teddy and cut it out using my nesties. I haven't used this BG paper for ages, but thought it fitted the sketch and the spring theme with the colours and flowers. I used my cutter bees to pierce the paper for the faux stitching. I added a few flowers and wrote the sentiment myself, and put it in the centre of a flower.
I finally got round to the JCBC sketch - I have had the papers out and the image coloured for a few days.
I thought I would go for colours I don't normally use on Christmas cards - I got the 12x12 paper stack for about £5 after Christmas. I think it wotks. I added ribbon and punched snowflakes.

Well now I am going to go and sort duplo out into boxes - isn't that fun!! Have a great afternoon.

Anniversary card

I have used this week's Friday Sketcher to make an wedding anniversary card for my parent. To be honest I think mum will think it is a bit on the fussy side as she doesn't 'do' flowers on cards ... but I found these roses at the bottom of my stash box and thought I ought to use them!I watercoloured the image and inked the edges in a gold based ink. I covered some of the matting paper with lacey ribbon. The image was cut out using my nesties and the tags using my sizzix die. I glimmer misted the cream flowers with tattered rose and added a red rose to the tag. The scroll/swirl is made using my new EK success scroll/swirl punches that arrived this morning. I finshed it off with a stamped swirl and a heart charm.

Easter cards for 3 challenges!

I managed to get some Easter cards made yesterday while Beth had a nap and Ellie made her own cards.
They fit 3 challenges - LOTV Easter, Charisma Cardz Favourite things (I love these Doodlebug papers at the mo!), and CCT card for a family member (the 2nd card is for my niece Tilly).I coloured the duckling in using Promarkers and matted everything onto pink and green cardstock. I went to town with the doodling (perhaps a bit excessively!!)

First time I have inked this stamp up this year, and again I coloured it using Promarkers. I punched a couple of little eggs and added them to the handwritten sentiment. The gems finish it off. I used the trully Scrumptious sketch for this week so I might enter it into that challenge - I just loved Beth's sketch.

Ellie helped me make this one for Beth for Easter - she had a go at inking the edges (not too bad a job!) and put the papers on, so they might not be as straight as mine LOL!! Oh and of course we had to have the pink bling!!!
These are Ellie's cards that she made for Easter - not sure who she is going to give them to yet!
Right off to pre-school and shopping! Catch up with you later.

WOJ sketch

There is a fab sketch by Donalda over at the WOJ challenge this week. I haven't done much card making this week, struggling to get my DT cards done, let alone ones for pleasure or commissions. Ellie is antibiotics and Beth is obsessed with the potty (a good thing I know, and at least it has taken her mind off the Snowman!!) so I am struggling keeping my focus or motivation. Having looked at this card there are so many things I would do differently with it if I could take it to bits!

I watercoloured the image and distressed the edges in Tattered rose and Broken China. I had this pad of papers out and I do love it, it goes so well with Elizabeth bell stamps. I added some leaves and punched flowers that have been glimmer misted (hubby was fascinated by what it was so got me some. I do wonder about how his mind works at times!) with tattered rose. Sadly it doesn't really show up on the photo. I added a couple swirl stamps and some adhesive gems to them.

DDCC challenge #41 - a small gift box

Its a great challenge this week as I love making little boxes for small gifts. My Gran and one of the girls' Auntie's have had birthdays recently so I made these lovely little bonbon boxes for the keyring charms that the girls have made for them. These are so quick and easy to make, depending on how much decoration you want of course, and I have put a tutorial at the bottom of the post for you for this box.
Here are the fab keyrings made by the girls, Beth's is on the left and Ellie's is on the right.
So here's how you make this fab little box:

Either print out (I scanned a template into the computer so I can print it out) or trace round the template onto the cardstock you want to use. You can use patterned cardstock if you don't want to decorate it yourself. To make the template it is a square and then the same length of the square sides out so it looks like a winmill, then draw a curved line to join the point to the corner (clear as mud!?)
Cut the template out and punch your ribbon slots (the ribbon slots are optional, but it does make for a prettier box).
Decorate your box - I used versamark ink and gold embossing powder for the flower and versacolour and clear embossing powder for the butterfly.
and some sparkly bits!
Put your little gift inside and thread the ribbon through the puched slots.
The finished box ... from above ...
and from the side ...
I'm looking forward to seeing all your little gift box ideas this week.

ABCchallenge G is for ...

Glitter!
So go on get that sparkle out and join in - it can be glitter, stickles, glitter pens - just GLITTER!!

I coloured this fab butterfly Tilda in in distress inks, cut her out and attacked the wings with turquoise stickles. I cut out and matted a hill onto the blue dp and matted Tilda so she looks like sheis running down the hill. I stamped some of the butterflies out, coloured and stickled them, and set them off flying. I added stickles to the edge of the circle and the centre of the punched flowers. Lacey and spotty ribbon and a scroll die cut finish it all off.

Do check out the other DT cards, and Iwill visit everyone this week - blogging is resumig as normal!!

Happy Easter

This week's Spoonfull of Sugar is Easter ... and I am in the process of making quite a few of these cards!! Becky is their guest designer so do have a look at her card, its fab! And as I seem to have less time to craft (thanks Beth for a return to the Snowman obsession this morning!) I have used Dawny's sketch over at Papertake Weekly Challenge. I have rotated it through 90 degrees.
I have to thank Pauline for these images - I am trying to get hold of this stamp as I love the image. I coloured it in distress inks and then inked the edge up in dusky plum ink. The green cardstock is also inked up. I love these bright papers and to help them stand out I matted them onto pink cardstock. I added a couple of chipboard photo anchors coloured in gold promarker and a gold peel off sentiment. As the card is an order from my mum no ribbon or flowers :(.

Stamp(s): Penny Black
Colouring Media: Distresss ink; color box; promarker
Papers: Doodlebug; cardstock
Embellishments: Woodware chipboard photo anchors

Gone fishin'

Whilst all the latest Homegrown Sugar Nellies tempted me, pennies meant I only got this one (I did feel very virtuous though and my halo shone!!).I coloured him in and cut him out using my nesties. I find some of the Archiac papers hard to use, so I used them on this as I thought the blues and greys werre like water. I inked all the edges with dark brown ink, and kept the embellishments simple, just buttons with ribbon treaded through, and a chipboard photo corner and clip which I covered in the dp. I an liking putting things at an angle at the moment!
And here is a close up of that gorgeous little boy:
Karen has some fab blog candy on offer -72 Copics - all you have to do is create something with an image you have coloured in... but please don't as I would love some copics!

Combined challenges (again!!)

We got back from a lovely weekend away last night, and I managed to get a card made (WOW!!) to fit three challenges:
PBSC (doodling), Secret Crafter (Favourite colour) and Sketch Saturday.
I love this ickle hedgie in the nutshell, and having coloured him I inked the edges and doodled. I used up scraps of my current favourite papers and doodled on and inked the edgesof some of them. I layered it all up onto my favourite colour of the moment - green, and stamped pink scrolls. Hubby got me some glamour mist from the girls as part of my Mothering sunday present so I sprayed some of that over the flowers and added gems. I stamped a sentiment to finish it off. Shock horror - it has no ribbon again (a total oversight!).

I have been amazed by the number of people who entered my blog candy - I will do the random generator thing later on this evening, and announce the winner. Thank you so much to all of you who entered.
Finally I am really sorry that i have not been visiting many blogs and making comments, especially those who have entered challenges on the ABC, DDCC and Sketch and Stash blogs - my laptop has died again and I have just been really busy with life in the last couple of week. Hopefully normality will resume this weeek and I can visit all you fantasic blogs.
Off to pick Ellie up and go to Tumble Tots (I am sure I am just a taxi service for my children's social life LOL!!)

Friday Sketcher

Its another glorious day, and Beth is shattered so is having a nap ... so I have made a card - the last for a couple of days as we are away for the weekend.

I have used this week's Firday Sketcher sketch and one of my latest Tildas. I masked her and sat her on the tree stump and watercoloured it. I used 2 widths of lacey ribbon and some green ribbon instead of one of the papers. I punched some flowers and leaves and inked the edges of them. I am enjoying making these fresher, spring cards, and I wouldn't often put green and pink together but it seems to work.
Well of to play in the garden with the girls and then pack. Have a great weekend.

Colouring Media: distress inks
Papers: Basic Grey Urban Prairie, cardstock

DDCC challenge #41... Wilma's sketch

There's been a little confusion over the DDCC challenge this week ... so here is my challenge mark 2. (Thank you to those of you who commented on my mark 1 challenge, hopefully it'll be back next week.)
Its a fab sketch by Wilma, which I will add later.

I have used one of my latest Magnolia Stampclub. I coloured her in distress inks and distressed the edges. The papers are from a mix of packs, and I used my fiskars threading water punch for the scallop - not used it for ages as it was at the back of the cupboard. Punched flowers again (I love my new punches!) I added a scalloped corner to the image to help it standout from the embossed cardstock. No ribbon again! Do check out the challenge and the DT cards.

Spring is here!

Its turning into a lovely week here - Beth's in the garden, the washing is on the line and I'm in short sleeves.

I haven't done much crafting this week - not really in the mood for it - got lots of new stamps to play with and no motivation :(. So I have combined the WOJ challenge (green) with Charisma Cardz sketch and the CCT challenge of torn and 4 embellies (layered flowers don't count as 1!)

OK I sneezed as I was putting her on the paper and she now looks like she is falling over!!! Tried to peel her off, but that was going to happen!

I have coloured the image and distressed the edges in distress inks. I torn some of the patterned paper (I was quite surprised how much green patterned paper I have!) and added the sentiment and green adheshive gems. I made a bow using the green organza ribbon and then heated it carefully with my heat gun to make to curl a bit. I like the simple look of it - its fresh and not fussy!

Got a busy afternoon and evening ahead of me so better get the washing in.

ABC challenge F is for ...

Flowers.
Did you guess?
I have gone for something a little different for me this week and made a flower using my nesties and cuttlebug.
I used my largest scallop circle die to cut the card blank (to get the fold just keep a bit inside the die) and then ran it through the D'vine swirls folder. The folder is cut using 2 scalloped circles and the smallest circle, and I embossed them using the Swiss Dots folder. I cut into the circles and then inked the edges up to create petals. I layered them together and added a flower brad for the centre. I used punched leaves around the edge, and tied a ribbon at the top.

Here's a closer look at the flower ... not perfect, but better than I thought it was going to be LOL!!

Do look at the other DT members flower ideas and then have a go yourself.

Cat going to a good home!!

OK no card, just a whinge ... not often I do this .. but I could kill our cat!!!!!
The girls had a couple of chilling hours this afternoon so I took the opprotunity to have a play with my latest Magnolia stamp kit and also got my CAS cards down to photo for my other blog as I have been meanig to post there and haven't.
So having finished colouring my Tilda (and they are gorgeous!!) and got out my lovely white embossed based cards ... the cat arrives with the flithiest paws this side of ... well anywhere. She loved all my cards and images, every single one!!
So the cards are now in the process of being dissembled and reassembled and the images we cut out and turned into ATC and a DT card for next week.
Fortunately she is lovely and cute enough to have weedled forgiveness (not sure who did the forgiving, got a feeling it was me for being cross with her!!) and has been given a slim second chance.
Just a quick question for those of you with the stamp kit - how are you doing the hill, can't find a way to stamp it that I like ... any ideas?
Have a great evening,
